Icon10 Babies In The Fountain... Whoopsie Daisy!

We were having a great laugh today about something that happened at Epcot on our trip last month... some babies (I think they must have been with a family reunion Magical Gathering type trip, because there was a gigantic pack of them and they all knew each other!) were running around, and it was hot outside. The moms were being absolutely diligent, but one baby strayed from the pack and took the moms' attention with him. The minute their backs were turned, the other babies went right into the squirting fountain, fully clothed -- leather sandals, diapers and all! There was great shrieking and hilarity on the part of the babies, and the moms were stunned at how quickly their nice dry crew had changed into soaking wet, screaming banshees! The water seemed to be a little cold for the babies and their reaction was priceless! It was so funny that everyone walking by had to stop and laugh. This was one of the most fun moments we had this trip!

mickaholic! You should go right into the fountain! Go ahead! What is good for the babies is good for the adults, too -- after all, we all have ridden Dumbo, right?

Great story Miss Dis. My boy JD was only 8 months old when we went last October, so he wasn't able to walk around and get in the fountains. He will be almost 2 when we go in December. I hope it's warm enough for him to play in the fountains, cause I think this would be priceless. Thanks for sharing the story.

Hey Disnatic... nope, not bad parenting! Bad parenting would be if the moms went into the fountain and forced the kids to stay dry!!!

I was always under the impression that Disney didn't exactly want you to go into the fountains... If they don't mind, I'm all over that!

Well, for regular fountains, that's true, but there are two fountains at Epcot that encourage full participation.

There's the one over by Mission:Space on your way over from Innoventions and there's one on the bridge leading to the World Showcase.

There is also the "jumping" fountain at Journey Into the Imagination where you can stand in the way of the jumping water streams and get really wet.

There's also a couple of play fountains at DTD.

The fountains I am talking about come right up out of the sidewalk! And the area is brightly painted so you can tell it is more like an attraction than just part of the sidewalk...

Oh! That one. Sorry. I wasn't thinking about that. I was thinking about the "fountain" fountains--with the pools of water and the central spouts and all that. I was just corn-fused there for a minute.

My children love the one that's here locally in what's called Bricktown. Kids and adults alike are always in it. It's cool.

Sorry for the misunderstanding...

Thanks for sharing.......brought back lots of memories of my crew (5 kids ages 6-15) when they were all toddlers and playing in the Epcot fountains. :)

Re: Babies In The Fountain... Whoopsie Daisy!

Yeah, Lil brer and I are planning for her to go spend some play time in the fountain at DTD on our down day. Since it is right across from Saratoga Springs where we will be staying. She said the kids playing in the fountains always look like they are having fun and she wanted to try, so I told that this time she can do it if she wants. She was really excited at the prospect and I am really looking forward to seeing her romp and play in the water. Even at eleven, I'm pretty sure she'll have a blast.
