Re: Tell me about the Tiki Room!!!!

I think its a must do .. it's one of Walt's first animatronic attractions even though it has been changed and now its Under new management.
a few years ago Zazu and Yargo (spelling) the birds from Lion King and Aladdin took over, being an old fuddy duddy I liked the original better.
I think you should at least try it once

oh and its located across from the Jungle Cruise

Re: Tell me about the Tiki Room!!!!

The new remodeled Tiki Room definetly lacks the charm of the original. Iago and Zazu don't quite jive with the other birds there. Still it's a nice change of pace and a good spot to relax in for a little while. If you haven't seen it, go do it.

Re: Tell me about the Tiki Room!!!!

Actually, the "new" Tiki room is one of our favorites attractions at MK. We like it better than the old one. It is indeed a "must do."

Re: Tell me about the Tiki Room!!!!

If you've never done it, then I would definitely give it a try at least once. I like it much better now that Iago and Zazu have taken over. Iago is one of my all time favorite supporting characters. I think it's pretty funny. Originally it was basically a bunch of animatronic birds that sang, but now with Iago and Zazu, it's funnier. Give it a try.

Re: Tell me about the Tiki Room!!!!

I have only done the new version, and I was glad because we had 5- and 6-year-olds with us. The adults found it pretty ho-hum, HOWEVER, it is a basic necessity of life (like air and water) to try everything at WDW at least once!

Yes, I would try the tiki room at least once. It's a nice break with COLD air on a nice hot Orlando day. There is usually no line and you can walk on in.

Re: Tell me about the Tiki Room!!!!

We never went to the old one, but did go to the new one with our then 4 yr. old DS. He LOVED it, I think it helped that he knew Zazu & Iago. He talked about it all day!

"in the tiki tiki tiki room, in the tikki tikki tikki room, in the tikki tikki tikki room..."
How does the rest of it go?? I forget??
Since it closes earlier than the rest of the park I usually miss it. Still I like it and try to go see it when I remember. It only takes say 15 min to watch it and I like it better now that iago and zazu are there. The old one was just singin birds and I think once was enough for me, well obviously I didn't go back until it was under new management!

Re: Tell me about the Tiki Room!!!!

The old version is still intact at Disneyland. If you really want to know what it was like, then simply buy (or dig out) one of those best of Disney album (or CD) collections that have the song "In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room" on it - pretty much the whole show is on that recording. Just imagine that being sung about a hundred times by little animatronic birds.

I thought it was definitely cute to see, but recently caught the "Under New Management" version again for the first time after seeing the classic version. I thought it was a cute update - though the ending is kind of weak - it's almost feels as if the characters are sick of our presence and want us to get out of there.

The new show starts like the original show, then gets interrupted by Gilbert Gotfried and Rowan Atkinson's feathered figures. I like a few of the modern numbers that were thrown in (a revamped"Friend Like Me", "Conga" and "Still of the Night"). Every time I hear that Conga number I can't help but wonder if it's a tribute to Gloria Estefan, who co-owns BONGOS at Downtown Disney, since the refurbished show and that restaurant kind of popped up at the same time.

If you've nothing better to do, and like animatronics, go catch it. It's not that long.Like many things at WDW, it's just a little "Goofy".
