While I'm not from Orlando, I do know that the current weather is unseasonably warm.

When we were there ealy last week and the week prior, that was about normal: mid to high 80s. Typically, low to mid 90s don't really get started until mid to late June. In July and August and into September, the heat is accompanied by mid afternoon thunderstorms that you can practically set your watch by. (around 3:30 - 4pm). Generally, it won't cool down until late September.

For you people that live in Orlando. What is the typical weather like in Orlando in July and August (temp/humidity)? and what do you do to cope with the heat and humidity?

Thanks,

Yeah, that actually is fairly normal, but it is comming on a little early and really fast. However, the humidity doesn't usually come into play until later.

Amen to that!!!!!! I have never been skiing and never plan on it. The snow is just not my thing, it is really pretty the first two hours, but then it is just plain ugly and annoying.

No way! Skiing is great.

I love 20 degree weather and heavy snow. I love snowball fights and building snowmen. I love drinking hot chocolate by a fire and watching the snow-fall outside.

I actually like shovelling show.. to a point.

I'm ok with the heat, so long as there's a pool or an ocean nearby.

Yeah snow is fun until you have to shovel it I don't mind snow but it the cold makes my poor joints hurt something bad.

My parents live in SW FLA but get out for a week or so at a time between June until September (grandkids up north). Anyway we are looking at the Orlando area as a place to relocate to in the next 2 years but my wife is concerned about the summer months. This heat wave is not helping the cause for Orlando.

Re: It's HOT in Orlando

I guess that being from Jacksonville I am used to it not getting any cloder than 40 degrees in the winter. I'm with you Matt, I like to shovel snow, but we have a HUGE driveway so I don't shovel too much.

There are certain times I love winter like sitting by the fire drinking hot chocolate, watching the snow fall, etc. But winter for me is more of shoveling snow, scraping windows, and dodging people that don't know how to drive in the stuff.

If I do get down south were the snow doesn't fall I will go north to visit the snow for a few days every year...then it will only be sitting by the fire drinking hot chocolate watching the snow fall

Re: It's HOT in Orlando

It's funny how accustomed we become to local weather.

Yesterday, I was sitting in my folks' backyard enjoying a cookout. It was sunny, breezy, crisp, clear and about 69 degrees. I was lovin' it and commented on how lucky we are to live in New England.

But it's funny. I'd imagine that for some folks from the south, anything below 75 degrees would require a sweater. I just find that amusing.

Re: It's HOT in Orlando

It was absolutely miserable here in the North this weekend. Temps were around 60 degrees. What is wrong with this place? Where I come from, by the time mid May to early June rolls around, we have 85-90 degree days. I love the humidity, and the heat. This weekend it was 2 days from June and I was wearing jeans! I hate it up here. Give me the 90+ weather any day of the year. I'm jealous of those who live in Orlando who get to enjoy warm weather year round. If I want to see snow, I'll watch Frosty the Snowman this Christmas season. Pass the sunscreen and sunglasses for me cause I never want to feel outside temps lower than 75 degrees again.

Re: It's HOT in Orlando

just wanted to add that due to the high temps and the lack of rain we have had a few wildfires down here, so keep in mind you may also being dealing with smoke from that, it has been a few months since I have seen smoke in disney from a fire but it can happen.

also as someone who works somewhere without AC in the middle of the afternoon, just think the next time your at the parks about the CM's who have to stand out in the blazing heat in these temps and maybe just give them that extra thank you it goes along way.

You said it! The weather up here in the Chicago area has been awful for about 3 weeks now! Will this rain ever stop??? And the temps are pretty cool, too. The kids (and adults) are so ready for summer, and it is definitely not here yet . I can't wait to get to Orlando next week !

I am "working" in downtown Chicago right now and we just had a 30 second rain storm. You would think we were in the Bahamas or something!

Thanks,
It's a little early for it to be this blisteringly hot in Orlando. Usually it heats up a little more gradually here, but the weather this year went from temperate to blast furnance in a matter of days.

As for typical weather in Orlando for July and August, the average temperature (factoring the daily high and daily low) in June is 81.1 with a relative daytime humidity of 90 percent. In July the average temperature is 82.3 with a relative humidity of 91 percent. The average high in June is 91 and the average high in July is 92.

Perhaps a more telling statistic is the number of days each month that the temperature is above 90 degrees. June averages 19 days where the temperature exceeds 90 degrees. July temperatures surpass 90 degrees an average of 25 days during the month.

As for how to cope with the heat and humidity, we basically just try to stay in air conditioning as much as possible. Some people say you get used to the heat, but I've lived in the South an awful long time and it hasn't happened yet.
