It's HOT in Orlando
The heat has been brutal here in Orlando the last few days. I was at the Flower and Garden Festival for awhile yesterday and the heat and humidity were about as uncomfortable as I've ever experienced. Unfortunately, the heat has also taken a toll on some of the festival's flower gardens, too, and they're not nearly as beautiful as they were a few weeks ago.
Riding around Orlando today, the thermometer in my car registered the outside temperature at 100 degrees around 4 p.m. Anyone who's coming to WDW in the next few days should be prepared for July-August temperatures -- except there's no rain in the forecast. In fact, there's virtually been no rain in Orlando for weeks.

Re: It's HOT in Orlando
What is it with the humidity lately? It has been SO humid in Central Texas lately that I can hardley stay outside for more than 10 minutes. By 9 am this morning it was 91š and it's 7:30pm right now and we have a heat index of 98š. UGH!
Thanks for the heads up Park Hopper. Hopefully this will not be what the rest of the summer is like. Cheryl, the spray/fan/misters work GREAT! Can you try to plan your afternoons inside the long rides at EPCoT? 45 minutes in the Universe of Enegry will feel SO GOOD on a day like today.

Re: It's HOT in Orlando
Something tells me it's going to be a brutal summer all around. Last weekend in NJ was July temps and humidity. It ws pretty nice this weekend though. The news was saying that the ocean temp is what we usually see in July, so that can't be a good sign..lol Brutal winter brings brutal summer I suppose. thank goodness for central air conditioning!

Re: It's HOT in Orlando
Thanks for the warning, we're also going to be leaving soon. We'll be there June 10th-17th. We went in January last year and in March the year before that, so I've forgotten how hot Orlando summers can be! Maybe I won't bother packing those sweatshirts... and I better go look for a couple of those misting fans

Re: It's HOT in Orlando
oh my park hopper. be careful out there in that heat. we don't want anything terrible to happen to you while you're visiting WDW. what would we do without you? and to all of those that are heading there soon, including tinkerbell who is there as we speak, be careful in that heat. drink lots of water and wear sunscreen. it's always best to be safe instead of sorry.

Re: It's HOT in Orlando
Yep it is too hot everywhere! Here in SC (I posted this once already but oh well) we are the 90s most days and not a drop of rain. We did get a little rain over the weekend but not enough to even soak the ground. We have officially been declared back in Severe Drought over the weekend. Last year we ended a 5 year drought and now this year we are right back to it. The lakes around here are already looking bad due to water levels. WE NEED RAIN!!

Re: It's HOT in Orlando
Well it has finally cooled down here in the Northeast, but the last few weeks have been brutal!!! We didn't get any rain and every day was hitting 95. The farmers were all getting really worried and were having to run their irragation systems. Glad that we finally got some rain and today will be a little more normal, around 82.

Re: It's HOT in Orlando
I have great sympathy for the folks in Orlando right now. When we visited last year, it was brutal. The temps were in the low to mid 90s, but the humidity was about 100% every day and no afternoon rains to cool things off.
That said, I am so glad that we missed the high temps this year. The only uncomfortable day was our last day, so it seems like we got out of there in the nick of time. BTW, with heat in mind, I highly recommend the Ice Cream Social at The Land at sitting down for Ice Cream at the Plaza Restaurant at MK. ![]()

Re: It's HOT in Orlando
Is this normal for Orlando to get this hot in early June? I thought it only got this hot in July and August?
For you people that live in Orlando. What is the typical weather like in Orlando in July and August (temp/humidity)? and what do you do to cope with the heat and humidity? Thanks,

Re: It's HOT in Orlando
I think up here in Northern Illinois we received all of the rain and cool temps! If this rain stops the weather would be perfect!
