First Time at Christmas

Hello All,
After many, many trips, we have booked our first Christmas time vacation at Disney. We have been in Nov, and January when we saw some of the decorations, (one day we went and it was like Christmas, the next it was back to normal). But this year we'll be going Dec 4 for a 4 night Cruise on the Wonder and then 5 days at Disney. Any "Holiday" suggestions out there?
We will be there with our two DS's (6 and 2.5)

MVMCP is an absolute must..... you will feel at home in NE when they make the snow...... We also hop from resort to resort to see the different decorations (WL, BWI & Y&B our our favorites to visit VERY well done!!) as well as all of the parks.

Re: First Time at Christmas

I went at Christmas time 2 years ago and had a great time. It may have been my favorite WDW trip ever. I would recommend the Osborn Festival of Lights, I heard they are bringing them back this year, they were amazing and a lot of fun. We also did the Candlelight Processional which we loved, but not sure if your little ones would be that intrigued but it. We did the dinner package with it. I also recommend just touring around the different resorts to see all the trees and decorations. The Grand Floridian tree is beautiful and the Ginger Bread House they build in the lobby is also amazing. Have fun!

Re: First Time at Christmas

I am going to make the rounds to the different hotels when I am there in December.
I will be there from the night of the first...and am leaving on the morning of the seventh. It was just posted earlier about visiting the GF, Yand B, BWI (for my life, I couldn't tell you what that stands for tonight; I am getting tired)....what other hotels would you suggest not to pass up on my rounds?

Re: First Time at Christmas

I can't remember if it is the Swan or the Dolphin but one of them had the most beautiful tree made entirely of pointsettias. It was amazing. So I would add them to your list!! Maybe someone else will remember which of them it is! I am jealous of your Christmas time trip! You will have a great time!

Re: First Time at Christmas

There is nothing like WDW at Christmas. We also went for the first time two years ago and are planning on going this year. (Love those AP's) I agree that the Osbourne Family lights are totally amazing. The weather was a little cool that year for Orlando (low 60's) but being from the Great White North, we had no problem. It makes the parks a little less busy at night when it cools off.

Re: First Time at Christmas

We're doing our first ever Christmas-time trip this year, too! We'll be there Dec 11-19. We're planning on doing the MVMCP & of course touring the various resorts. I understand WL is just gorgeous. We'll be staying at BWI (which is Boardwalk, btw) & I've just got to get over to GF. I'm also glad Osborne family lights will be back. I just can't wait to see Main Street with "snow!"

Re: First Time at Christmas

I am kind of stressing about my MVMCP trip. I think there will be so much to see and not enough time! (Already taking DD out of school for 4 days as of now.) We are leaving on Wed. Dec 1, driving so will arrive on Dec 2. Will have the 3rd thru the 6th at WDW. I know, it is better to be going for a few days rather than none at all. I am very thankful to be going. However, we are used to 6 days or more every time we go. And for the first time, we will have to plan what we want to see since we do not have much extra time to do it all.

Re: First Time at Christmas

i hope you have a fantastic time! My Dh and I have said that we will definately do this one year, when DD is just that much older though ( she is only 14 months at moment). Hopefully by the time we get there for xmas we will have picked up some great tips from you guys for that time of year.
I think for that vacation we would go for somewhere like WL . Where are you going to be staying?

We tried to move our reservations from BC to either BWI or WL & were told that WL is the first one (DVC, anyway) to fill up at Christmas. We're not even going to be there Christmas week, but the week before that!!!

Re: First Time at Christmas

I think Disney at Christmas would be so sweet! My husband wants to do it, but aren't the crowds out of control? Does the coolness of being at Disney at Christmas outweigh the crowds? I can't decide whether we should try it or not next year, help!

Well, we're basing our planning on the assumption that the week of Christmas & the week after that are the really crowded times. I'm hoping that the week we're there (11-19) isn't quite so crowded.

We stayed at the Dolphin at Christmastime and that tree was fabulous!

Crowds start peaking the week before Christmas and stay that way through the week after Christmas.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is another resort you won't want to miss.
