Planning our trip
We are going to WDW in December with our 3 DS's who are 8,7 & 6. I am a bit concerned they are going to get too tired if we try and fit too much in to our trip. Does anyone have any tips for us so they enjoy their trip and not get too worn out!

Re: Planning our trip
First of all, I recommend that you start by staying on site. The convience can't be beat. The all-star resorts are the most affordable and have great themes that your boys will love. Staying on site allows you to enter a different park each morning an hour early than the general public. This gets you a great headstart on the day. We start out at the early entry park and stay until it starts to get crowded, then go back to the resort for a swim/rest break and then go to a different park for the evening festivites. That afternoon break has really proved a lifesaver for our family.ALso, staying on site lets you use the disney shuttle bus system which is very convienet and no driving hassles for you. You'll find lots of other tips here, too.

Re: Planning our trip
Take a little break in the middle of the day and plan to have lunch at your resort. The boys can rest up or swim and then you can head back out for dinner. My DD(10yrs) and I are on hand for rope drop each day and then take a break at lunch. We would rest up, grab lunch and shower or whatever and go back our for our dinner PS's and stay until closing.

Re: Planning our trip
How long are you going for? If it's 5 days or more..spend one day at each park and try to schedule a day in the middle of your vacation (or near the end) to just hang out by the pool and relax. As someone stated, try to stay on Disney property. We stayed on Hotel Plaza Blvd )on property, but not a Disney hotel) and even that was tiring..getting on all the buses..and when we went the AK buses only came every hour and we had just missed it. If your budget allows, stay at an EPCOT or MK resort..maybe you can find a good deal or if you go end of January or early Feb. the crowds aren't as big and you can see a lot more in a shorter period of time and still have time to relax at the end of the day.

Re: Planning our trip
As stated above stay on site and try to take a break each day. If your boys get up early take advantage of Early Entry and get as much in as you can before the crowds get too big. If your boys are not early risers hit the park that had Early Entry the day before right at 9 and enjoy the morning. We ran my DS (6) hard this trip and he was so good. You know your kids, head off any rough times by leaving the parks before they have had too much, I saw so many crying kids and screaming parents last week. It was so sad to watch trips ruined because parents didn't listen to their kids and take a break.

Re: Planning our trip
Take your time!!!! If you rush, everyone will get stressed and it won't be fun. Relax and have fun.
Make a list of the attractions everyone wants to see and work from there. There is always next time for the things you missed. We were there for 11 days and still missed a few things and saw/heard things we want to do on our next trip. We are just going to add them to the list for the future.

Re: Planning our trip
The basic trick I use is to plan out each day with a "Top 5" list of things we MUST do then I list of 10 things we *could* do if there's time.
It provides enough structure so that everyone's comfortable, but it allows flexibility so that mid-day returns to the hotel are do-able and nothing important will be missed.

Re: Planning our trip
Basically, you don't want to go "comando" and feel you have to do everything. As Matt suggested, have everyone pick out something they MUST do and then be sure to include that. Otherwise, be flexible and relaxed. Have a mid-day break from the parks. I have a feeling though, that your kiddies are going to have PLENTY of energy!
