Bringing food into the parks
I was just curious, did WDW ever have a polcy where they did not allow you to bring your own food into any of the parks. The past few times I have gone we always brought in snacks, with two small children and long lines you need to have something on hand. About a month before we leave for WDW we start getting our stuff together and we find all the snacks with Disney characters. My kids love it. Anyway, has anyone ever had any trouble trying to bring their own food into the parks?

Re: Bringing food into the parks
Last year we had one of those collapsable rolling coolers!! We filled it everyday with water bottles and pop and we brought snacks and most days a small lunch in it!!! They never said a word just wanted to make sure there was no alcohol in it!!!
People ask if it was a problem but really it was not!!! We would park it in the stroller parking and get it after the rides!!! We saved a bundle!!! One water in the parks was $2.50 and we bought 24 for $5!!! Then we would refill them and reuse them for the week!!! We also bought bottled pop!!! Huge savings there too!!! We had small snacks like cheese and crackers, funfruits, pringles and granola bars.... That way we did not have to buy a snack everytime!!! It worked out great!!!!! We did it everyday for eight days with no problems!!!!! __________________

Re: Bringing food into the parks
We have taken snacks into the parks with us over the years, and have never had a problem. They will search knapsacks and coolers for things that should not go into the parks i.e. alcohol, but that is it.

Re: Bringing food into the parks
We take our jogging stroller in b/c it has pockets on the shade/roof and a HUGE storage area underneath. We put fruit snacks, nuts, raisins, and crackers in the zipper pouches on the roof. I throw a couple juice boxes in the second zipper pouch. We buy the small skinny bottles of water and freeze them the night before we leave and put them in the cooler for the rest of our stay. We take a few out and put them on the bottom of the stroller and a couple in our backpack(keeps you really cool when you wear the back pack w/ the frozen waters in it..lol) The slowly melt and when we finish the water there is still a nice little frozen core running down the middle and we refill the bottles w/ the water fountains around the parks..they stay really cold b/c of the ice center that is still in the bottle) DH also carries a camelback..it is like a small skinny backpack that you put water and ice in and it has a tube to drink out of ..those things are GREAT!

Re: Bringing food into the parks
I forgot to say, they do check our bags and stroller and the snacks and waters are visible and no one at any Disney park has yet to say a thing. We have done this for years and never had a problem. We did it at Sea World also, and no one said a thing to us about it.

Re: Bringing food into the parks
Disney officially doesn't allow outside food, but I have NEVER seen anyone do anything about it, and 70% of the people I see entering the park have stuff packed into strollers.

Re: Bringing food into the parks
We haven't had a problem, either. We brought juice, goldfish, pretzels, and fruit snacks for our little ones and they definitely came in handy when waiting in lines, etc.

Re: Bringing food into the parks
I guess the bottom line is that Disney doesn't consider "snacks" food. I suppose if you were carting in full-course meals it would be a different story, but the parks would be empty if they refused entrance to those who bring in snacks. It just isn't realistic to expect toddlers and small children, especially, to get through a day at the parks without little snacks.

Re: Bringing food into the parks
We have seen lots of people pull out sandwiches and drinks while we have been in the parks. I think its not nice to tell the guest no ..no matter what the "official" policy might be :)

Re: Bringing food into the parks
I think this is more of an ethical thing.
Personally I feel that you should be allowed to bring food into the parks. I never have, because in my family we are not big planners, but if we did plan we would take it in. I think I would still buy lunch, because personally I like a hot, fresh lunch.

Re: Bringing food into the parks
my husband and I were talking about this ..and we feel that eating at WDW is one of the
experiences we love..but if we lived closer and went more often we would consider taking meals sometimes :)

I think that is a good way of putting it, Tink.

Re: Bringing food into the parks
The fact that they do allow food sets them apart from all of the rest. I can't think of any other theme park establishment that allows any food at all.
