Christmas Decorations -when?

Hello all. We just got back from our first Disney vacation 3 weeks ago. My mom was bummed that we would not let her tag along. It was, however, our first family vacation and we said no. Anyway, long story short I'm thinking of going back with just her and my soon to be 5yr old (3 nights) this fall or winter so she can experience the magic, too. And it won't hurt us a bit either.

I was looking the end Sept deals but don't think that will happen. We are really open. I'd love there to be deals again. Are their ever deals for early Dec? We are open to Oct, Nov, or even Jan/Feb. I think it would be neat to see the Christmas decorations but also we are going to be there during the week and Wishes and Spectro Magic were my favorite thing. I wonder when they quit doing them during the week?

Any advice (oh and answer on the decorations) ?
Thanks

Re: Christmas Decorations -when?

Hope your first WDW trip was magical. It must have been if you are already talking of going back. I love hearing about the WDW monster biting first-timers..lol Anyway, the first week in December is a great time to go. All of the decorations usually start going up the day after Thanksgiving if I'm not mistaken. All rooms (or most) can be booked at value rates because it's not a busy time of year for them. If you plan it right, over a weekend, you can take you DD to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, but don't wait ot long on that. Good luck.

If you go in December, don't miss Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. I would buy tickets now if you are planning to go. I went last year for the first time to MVMCP and loved it. The serve hot chocolate and cookies, it snows on Main Street, and characters are everywhere to have pictures taken with.

Re: Christmas Decorations -when?

The decorations go up beginning the day after Thanksgiving. That is when we depart this year. We'll be there for 8 days so I think that is enough time in case they all don't get up within the first 2-3 days after Thanksgiving. I would die if we didn't see MK all decked out.

The MVMCP tickets have been on sale for a while so if you plan on going, get them now! If you are staying on property Disney usually makes more of an effort to be sure you get them. Good Luck!

Re: Christmas Decorations -when?

I think they decorate the resorts just prior to Thanksgiving, because I took the kids over Thanksgiving a couple of years ago, and we stayed at Dixie Landings. I am pretty sure we arrived on Tuesday night, two days before Thanksgiving. And when we pulled up ot the hotel, it was already completely decked out in Christmas regalia! There were huge twinkling garlands over the doors, and a gigantic tree in the foyer. In keeping with the hotel's theme, the decorations were all country style, with gingham and fruits and natural colors. When we went over to POFQ, the trees were Mardi Gras style, with purple, green and yellow sparkles and colored lights! It was so cool! And then, during our stay, wherever we would go, the trees had still different themes! The most impressive tree EVER was in the middle of GF. I couldn't take enough pictures! And also in the GF lobby is a LIFE-SIZE gingerbread house! They sell treats in a shop inside the gingerbread house! It was so funny... there were little fingerprint scrapes along the lower parts of the walls, where tiny guests had reached through the decorative fencing to get a little taste of the house's icing "snow"!
