Re: Great Castmembers

I've had a handful of GREAT character experiences.

Last year, at a character signing in the grotto at AK, the Tigger was terrific. He was a total spaz and gave my son a bear hug and wouldn't let him go until the picture was taken. I was having flash battery issues and we had to wait what seemed to be the longest 20 seconds in history. Tigger was great and kept DS smiling, despite the fact that at 11, he was utterly embarrassed.

This year, the crew at the 1900 Park Faire CB were great, especially Mad Hatter and Alice. Alice was practically flirting with my son, as any precocious 12 year old would do.

Also this year, we walked through Epcot right after opening and stopped to take pics with Donald. All of a sudden, Pinocchio was behind me hiding from the wolf. I wasn't sure if DD thought I was the hero or just a big dork for defending Pinocchio and sending the wolf away.

Re: Great Castmembers

I have a really good one. Our group of 10 was doing TOT, and DD was to short so we did kid swap. It was nap time on a terribly hot day. You can only guess what DD had turned into. . We waited inside by the photo counter, but she was uncontrollable . The wonderful CM at the counter brought her over some disney boxes, some crayons and some paper. With a smile he said "This may help". I know I wasnt first one to have a 2 yo with a temper tantrum, but the fact that this CM went out of his way to help me calm her down was above and beyond, and the best part is, that it worked.....for awhile anyway.

Thank all heavens for wonderful CM's, and alittle Disney magic.

Re: Great Castmembers

one of my favorite stories involves my oldest DD, Kate. She was about 4 and on her first of many WDW trips. She had looked around all week for a special souvenier to spend "her own money" on. She finally decided on a Sleeping Beauty Bank. I explained to her that it would take all her money to purchase it, but that's what she wanted to get. When the CM at the register rang it up, he waited patiently while she counted out all her nickels and dimes. Then when the purchase was made, he dug into his own pocket and took out a few coins. Here's something to start your savings with, he said. It was really sweet.

I've heard this more than once. I think that's one of the coolest things that they do in Disney.

Re: Great Castmembers

Last year my DD latched on to a Pooh Bear at AK!!! She has never been a stuffed animal kid, BUT loved this one!!! She insisted on taking it everywhere the rest of the week!!! And Yes, we lost it!!! She was heartbroken!!!

We searched everywhere for that exact bear!!! It seems the only place it was sold was AK and DTD!!! I told her we would try to go to DTD before we left!!
We made it there on our way home!! She told the CM at the DTD store what happened and the Cm grabbed a differnt one from the shelf, took the tag off of it, handed to her and said well look here he is!!! My DD got a huge smile on her face and ran to show her dad!! She did not charge us anything, I tried to go to the counter to pay for it and she said no don't worry about it!!! That is my little bit of Magic today and she winked!!!

She is the true meaning of DISNEY MAGIC!!

Re: Great Castmembers

Last year we had purchased sunglasses for DS and DD at the AllStarSports gift shop. On day 3, DD wasn't paying attention and walked into her brother, breaking the arm on her glasses. The sun was brutal at Epcot later that day, so we had no choice but to buy her another pair. We stopped at a cart between the American Experience and the Japanese Pavillion and when the CM heard the story, she simply cut the tags, but wouldn't let us pay.

She said, "It isn't right for a princess to not have proper sunglasses at Disney."

Re: Great Castmembers

My husband has NUMEROUS severe food allergies and we don't go out to dinner much because it is just too hard. So when we decided to go to WDW I made 2 Priority seatings a day so he could make sure he had something he could eat. We called ahead of time and spoke to each chef and we thought that was great. Every place we went the staff was very attentive to his needs but the staff at Boma went far above and beyond. I cannot say enough great things about this place and the chef TJ. TJ had spoken to DH on the phone before we left home about his allergies. When we got there he came to the table with a list of foods and spices and read it off and asked if it was all ok. He then told DH I don’t want you eating anything off of the buffet, I will personally make your whole meal myself. He proceeded to make him a phenomenal 4 course meal. He made fresh ginger carrot soup, then some kind of seafood in a cream sauce, followed by a main course of several kinds of meats , seafood, rices and vegetables that came out in a giant wok. The meat and seafood was on skewers made out of fresh cut sugar cane. For dessert he made DH some kind of shaved chocolate ice with fresh avocadoes and mangoes. We asked for the manager to compliment TJ and the manager said that TJ had been preparing things all day for our dinner. It was unbelievable. DH said he felt like he was a make a wish kid finally getting his wish of not having to worry about eating out. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this experience was for DH and how fantastic the staff at Boma is.

Re: Great Castmembers

I love hearing good CM stories!! I have a few guests in mind that really make my day from when I was working down there. But one always sticks out, I was cleaning my restaurant when I saw a family discussing where to go next. We have been told to try to start conversations with guests, so I walked over. Their daughter was crawling around on the floor and stopped to ask her if she had seen any princesses yet. She pulled out her autograph book and immediately was showing me every autograph she had received. I sat down on the floor next to her and just let her tell me every single one. Her mom then leaned over and took a picture of the two of us sitting on the floor. The mom said as we were leaving, "thanks, she's been showing the autographs to us all day, so I'm sure she was excited to share them with you!" I said it was no big deal, and the mother was like, "no, to us it was." I guess it's just the little things that makes people's days.

Re: Great Castmembers

I remember this great CM at Boma at the AKL. Her name was Precious and it was her first day on the job at the Cookie Decorating that they have everyday. She talked to my DS and helped him really do up some great animal cookies. That was in Feb. We went back in November and there she was. We remembered her and when we started talking, telling her about our previous visit, she finally remembered us. She had been really homesick that first day and DS had asked all kinds of questions about her home in Africa and it had helped her get through the day. We saw her several times during our stay and she always called my DS by name. We have pictures of her and DS oftens wonders what she is doing back home.

Re: Great Castmembers

Two of the best! Lito and Natily from the Disney Wonder. They were our waiters for the entire cruise. The first night, was a bit rough and the large table next to us, a family of about 12 did not show up for dinner (??). Lito and Natily were having so much fun with our children, that no matter where we went, we found them. They were just fun people who missed their own children, due to the fact they are out on the Ship for 6 months or so.
We all had so much fun with them and they really treated us like royalty during our stay with them.
Here they are, if you get to go on a cruise, I hope you have the pleasure to have them.
