Hurricane a Comin'

As a lot of you are now aware, Charlie is on it's way to Florida. I just got out of a meeting about the matter this morning and for those who are traveling here or are already here for the next 3 days I wanted to make things clear. The parks are going to be open unless it gets to be too much. Should the event happen the parks have to close and you get stuck here, DO NOT PANIC. We are entertainers, AND YOU ARE GOING TO GET ENTERTAINED. Should you be stuck at your hotels, look out for characters, CMs, and all sorts of surprises to pay a visit. You WILL NOT go home empty handed. Like I said, it's very unlikely it will happen, so please plan on the parks to be open. Time to go take out the Queen of Hearts. Have a Magical Day everyone, and See ya Real Soon!

Re: Hurricane a Comin'

I am so glad to see that WDW has a back-up plan shoudl the worse happen. It's good to see the behind the scences magic!! Thanks for the reassurance to travelers RR. You rock!

Taking out the Queen of Hearts? You lucky man. She is my favorite character to encounter at MK. She always interacts with everyone is a blast with her "off with her head" jestures. I have some great pics of her with my DD and me on our first trip together in 97.

Re: Hurricane a Comin'

We camped out in Fort Wilderness during hurrican Andrew back in the 90's.
We were just getting back to the camp, and we saw other guest getting on the bus with pillows and sleep ware. In turned out that we got we had to sleep in the Hoop De Doo theater. And Disney opened late the next day. We met a lot of people who ha just left there house from southern Florida to escape and went to Disney. One family feared they lost there house, but came to Disney for the brunt of the storm, which many did, all the rooms booked out.

As a matter of fact, we also honeymooned during Hurrican Opal at Disney's Vero Beach. HHMMMM

I wish everyone down there, or going down there safe journeys.

Re: Hurricane a Comin'

You know, with that double whammy of Charlie and TS Bonnie, and a clever arrangement of a poncho, one just might be able to experience "Soarin' over Florida" just a little early! Or with an umbrella, it might be the new "Mary Poppins" attraction...

"I can see Canada from here! Or at least the Canada pavillion at Epcot!"

Oh boy...it was a long night so I'm punchy. To any of our friends that will be there, be safe, and take advantage of the short, short lines. The quietest day I ever had at Epcot was a day-long rain fest.

Tampa is expected to get hit hard....380,000 residents have already been told to evacuate and more are likely. As of right now they expect it to make landfall in the Tampa/St. Pete area.

Re: Hurricane a Comin'

I would expect Tampa to be the worst. TS Bonnie is going to get dragged right into the low pressure centre of the hurricane. I had to evacuate from Indian Rocks about 20 years ago in a similar situation.

Last September, we watched that hurricane come in from the Atlantic and then spin off into South Carolina. However, with both storms, methinks it's gonna be a wet one. Personally, as long as it's safe, I kind of like that weather. I've evac'ed from a hurricane, taken shelter in a typhoon in Hong Kong, and endured a tropical storm in the Bahamas - fortunately, I was safe in all situations.

Our fingers are crossed for everyone!

There isn't anything really out there right now besides Charley and Bonnie...But you can never tell...if something like Charley pops up off the coast os South America again it only takes a few days for it to hit.
