Liberty Square closed for renovations??

Ok, so, I was just at the WDW website reconfirming the park hours for my trip in September (7th-17th). Under the operational updates, it says that Liberty Square will not be operating 9/9-9/18. To me, that seems vague..does that mean that the WHOLE area will be closed (no Haunted mansion or hall or presidents?!?) Or...does it mean there won't be vendors out and can't walk through?? I mean, a parade goes through liberty square...If there were certain attractions closed, wouldn't they say "HM and Hall or pres. closed"?? Please, try to clarify this for me someone! We will be so disappointed if the entire land is closed. Small world, tom sawyer and Extraterrorestrial (spelling) will be closed while we're there (not sure about stitch being open yet..). If the entire LS area is closed, it's like half the park is practically closed! I know we are going during a "down time" but still. this is getting ridiculous! Plus, NOJ will be going on during that time too (i'm not attending, but many people are). All those people making a special trip may be disappointed that half the park will be closed. I don't want to call today to talk to WDW because it's the day of the hurricane and I'm sure they have more important things to think about, but if anyone here knows anything, please share. Otherwise, I have to wait till next week to find out. Sorry this was so long, I just had to panic!

I don't think HM will be closed unless it is specified, allthough I don't know exactly what the closings would include. Maybe Mickey would know? or RowdyRaider? I hope these rides are not closed!!!

Re: Liberty Square closed for renovations??

Perhaps the boat area? You should just call and ask. Can't hurt and only help with your planning.

Re: Liberty Square closed for renovations??

I will probably call on Monday, after the stormy weekend. But, the website didn't say any specific rides, just Liberty Square....it seemed odd. I'll keep my fingers crossed that HM and HOP are open! Everything just seems to be closed when I'm there!

Re: Liberty Square closed for renovations??

I went on wdwig.com that alwasy has the latest updates on renovations and the only thing I found was Tom Sawyer Island...maybe that's it? Here's the link.

http://allearsnet.com/tp/rehabs.htm#904

She has up-to-date information on the current storms down there, so I assume the renovations and closing are also updated. Hope this is some good news for you.

Re: Liberty Square closed for renovations??

Thanks Dana...I checked the all ears site...The section with rehabs was last updated on the 9th, but the official WDW site today(the 13th) had liberty square being closed. Maybe deb didn't get to it yet, with the hurricane and all.

Re: Liberty Square closed for renovations??

hmm...sorry about that. I thought with the hurrican information she had on her front page, that she was updated. I tried. Maybe Monday will bring you good news. I'll send some dust your way for good luck. I hope HM isn't closed on you.

Hmm...do they really close whole "lands" of the theme park? lol. Never seen that before. Oh well. Call them on Monday or something!

Re: Liberty Square closed for renovations??

I don't think it would be physically possible to close a "land". I know that the Liberty Steamboat (I think thats what it is called), was going in for rehab. Maybe it is a typo. I would try calling on monday.

Re: Liberty Square closed for renovations??

Ok everybody I just got off the phone with Disney and they told me during that time in September the Jungle Cruise will reopen, but Aladdin's Magic Carpets will be closed, and so will the Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island. The Haunted Mansion and Hall of Presidents will not be closing for any kind of refurbishment as of this date.

Re: Liberty Square closed for renovations??

You're welcome! I'm going to Disney from 9/17 to 9/21 and Haunted Mansion is my FAVORITE, so I felt the same way about Liberty Square. Value season or not, I don't think they could get away with closing the Haunted Mansion unless it absolutely needed it.

Re: Liberty Square closed for renovations??

Great news for you two. I am so glad that HM is going to open. I don't know about you two, but I'd gladly trade the Magic Carpets for Jungle Cruise...lol Congrats to you both.

I like Jungle Cruise more too. Also, the Magic Carpets and Dumbo are essentially the same ride, so if I'm feeling ambitious (and athletic) I can make a dash for Fantasyland as soon as the park opens.
