Re: Hello Metalfan, whats going on down there?
I live in South Florida...I'll post this again...
Walt Disney World theme parks, as well as Downtown Disney, are scheduled to open on Saturday, August 14, at 9 a.m. Because of the storm however, park officials say it may take a few hours for the areas to become fully operational. "Like other members of the Central Florida community," states Disney officials, "our property received some damage as a result of Hurricane Charley. While it is too early to assess the total impact of the storm, we would not open unless it was safe for our Guests and Cast. As always the safety of our Guests and Cast Members is our top priority." All Walt Disney World Cast Members, whether or not their work area is open, should report to work at the appropriate time today if it is safe to do so. Guests who have questions should call (407) WDW-INFO or (407) 939-4636. The Magic Kingdom will close at 11 p.m. Epcot and Disney-MGM Studios will close at 9 p.m. Blizzard Beach will close at 7:30 p.m. Disney's Animal Kingdom hours are still pending at this time. Typhoon Lagoon will be closed.

Re: Hello Metalfan, whats going on down there?
I honestly can only tell you what our local news people tell us down here. The pictures look pretty bad, but I haven't heard of anything serious at Disney. People are picking up whats left of their lives and it's the saddest thing. Just pray for those that lost their life and thank God it wasn't worse...it could have been!

Re: Hello Metalfan, whats going on down there?
The winds maxed out around 105 MPH in Orlando....the sustained winds were around 80...so it was still a very, very strong storm. I know there was airport damage and roofs were torn off and other stuff. There was a lot of damage.

Re: Hello Metalfan, whats going on down there?
And one thing...I know that we all love Disney and are worried about the people there...but theres a mobile home park in Punta Gorda, where the people decided to try and ride out the storm and apparently they didn't make it. They've ordered at least 60 body bags for that park and apparently officers are standing next to piles of bodies...so pray for those people and their families.

Re: Hello Metalfan, whats going on down there?
I saw that on the news Metalfan, its tragic. There was also a semi truck that was blown on a stationwagon and killed a little girl on the highway near Orlando. We need to keep these poor people in our thoughts, I feel for their families. I cant imagine the pain they are in.
