Re: Mickeys Christmas Party?

Oh mrsmouse and Matt, I'm so glad to hear that it's not crowded at that time of year!!! I am really really looking forward to this trip, especially because we get to stay for 2 whole weeks!! It's going to be a blast.

Hey mrsmouse...you say that it usually gets more crowded toward the end of your trip, around mid-December. When do you usually leave? We are leaving the 14th, and I expect it to get more crowded toward the end. That's why we're trying to go early.

ANYWAYZ...I can't wait to go shopping for gloves, sweaters, etc. Not only will they be great for our trip, but they'll come in pretty handy for this winter in Alaska, too!

Re: Mickeys Christmas Party?

We will be at WDW Dec. 7-17th. I am hoping for light crowds also. The last two years we have gone have been closer to Christmas. I'm hoping the weather is a bit warmer this year than the last two. The weather fluctuates so much, we were wearing coats and bathing suites in the same trip.

This year we are headed down a little earlier than usual. 11/27-12/4. We typically go down a week later than this but college exams for my nieces and nephews were causing a problem. Can you imagine that getting in the way?!

When are you going to be there? We'll be getting there on the 11th & doing MVMCP on the 14th. It would be wonderful if we could meet up...

Re: Mickeys Christmas Party?

Does anyone know if there are any threads with pictures of MK during Mickey's Christmas Party? I really wanted to see what it looked like. I think I remember looking through some old threads and seeing this man's amazing pictures and I thought that he had some on there. I can't remember his name though!! If anyone knows, just let me know! Thanks!!

Re: Mickeys Christmas Party?

Does any one know if the first night of MVMCP sells out? I am thinking of extending my trip just to catch this.

Allearsnet has a bunch of photos, not only from MVMCP, but other parks during the holidays:

At WDW you have to have special tickets for this? We were hoping to get to experience that in December when we are there.
Just refreshing my question...does the Magic Kingdom seriously not do anything for Christmas except for special ticket holders? Disneyland has this going on every evening for regular admission ticket holders...snow and all. Seriously?? Is this true?

I just got my tickets!!!

Sharon, there are special Holiday things that happen that are NOT special ticketed events starting right around Thanksgiving. If you follow the link in my earlier post from this afternoon, you'll see everything that's going on.

As far as snow, I know they have "snow" at MGM on Residential Ave for Osborne's lights, but I'm not sure if it's anywhere else.

Was it this link?

Since we'll be going well after this is over (the week between Christmas and New Year's), what WILL be going on for Christmas at that time? We were hoping to get a unique WDW Christmas experience this year.

Disneyland doesn't have a special ticketed event for Christmas, but the park does close early each weeknight (except Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) and they hold private Christmas parties on those night. For instance - we'll be going to the castmember Christmas party - the park will only be open to castmembers (both from the DLR and the studios in Burbank) and their families for 2 consecutive nights.

However, on those (weekend) nights that DL is open late, they show the Christmas fireworks, and directly after, they play "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" and "snow" falls for a few minutes on Main Street. It is truly magical. The Christmas parade also is done 2-3 times a day, every day.

I just can't believe that Christmas celebrations will be over after the 17th at WDW?!

Re: Mickeys Christmas Party?

We are going for the first time this year. In the past we have gone to Mickey's not so scarry halloween party, and that was awesome. Everyone we talked to that has been to the x-mas party has told us that it's a great time for the whole family. See ya there!!!

Sharon:

MVMCP is simply a way for Disney to attract larger crowds during a time of year where WDW is very quiet. The Christmas celebrations do not stop on the 17th. As a matter of fact, that's the day that WDW kicks it into high gear.

The first regular Christmas parades begin on the 18th and go right through New Year's Day. (At least that's what I've been led to believe, based on what I've read.) The MK celebrations seem to be very consistent with the DL celebrations. I think you folks will have a great time.
