Mickeys Christmas Party?

I just booked us into the POR for 5 days 12/2 -12/6/04. The sales agent told me about Mickeys Christmas Party, the tickets are around $36. Has anyone ever been? and is it worth the price of admission. I must admit that I'm interested, she said that the park closes and then re-opens for ticket holders and that most of the attractions are open. Sounds like fun but it was a sales pitch.

Re: Mickeys Christmas Party?

We went last Christmas and had an AWESOME time! There was so much to do and see! It was totally worth the price of admission. We enjoyed it so much, we are going for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in Oct. We had such a great time, I would go again in a heartbeat!!

Yeah it's definitely worth seeing at least once. There is a lot to do and the park is amazing.

Re: Mickeys Christmas Party?

Thanks everyone, after reading your comments and reading the Allears reviews I call Disney and bought 3 tickets for 12/2. It sounds great and the park stays open late, I'm looking foreward too it.

WHOA!!! Midnight??? MK stays open until MIDNIGHT???!!!

That's AWESOME! I had no idea! I had already bought the tix to MVMCP without knowing that we'd have potentially 5 extra hours in MK. That changes the complexion of the trip entirely.

I haven't told DW, DS or DD about the snow. I told them that there's one thing about MVMCP that was a surprise. Now, I won't tell them that it's open that late either.

BTW, what rides are typically open/closed during MVMCP?

Re: Mickeys Christmas Party?

Oh thank you thank you THANK YOU for bringing up this subject! I was just about to ask it myself. Now that Ryan and I are settled in AK, we are able to save lots of money toward a WDW trip...we have decided to go in the first 2 weeks of December, and I was going to ask if we should go to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Now I think I'm convinced it will be worth the extra money!

Now my other question...I know the period between Thanksgiving & the week before Christmas is considered one of the "lowest attendace" times of the year. But from an honest perspective, how are the crowds? How are the crowds at MVMCP? And what is the weather usually like?

Looking for any answers...even personal experiences are great...feel free to PM me, too! Thanx everyone! ::hugs all around::

Re: Mickeys Christmas Party?

Looks like we're going to miss that as we're going right after Christmas. But, at DL, the Christmas celebration runs from mid-November to the first week of January, and that includes the Christmas parade, the Christmas fireworks and snow on main street, Small World Christmas, the Nightmare Before Christmas, and all the decorations, caroling, Santa, etc. etc. etc. every day and every night open to all, no special tickets or events for it. At WDW you have to have special tickets for this? We were hoping to get to experience that in December when we are there.

Hey Kim! I haven't seen any of your posts lately and I guess I'm out of the loop on the saga of Ryan and Kim. Alaska? hmmmmm.... ahhh to be young and newlywed.

Anyhoo, we'll be there right after you and Ryan leave. While I've never been there during the holidays, everything I read suggests that crowds will be even smaller for you than for us. You should expect little if any lines.

Tickets for MVMCP are limited and even for a sold out evening, there are no lines whatsoever. Then, after the first parade, a lot of people leave so it's not uncommon for certain rides like the Indy Speedway to be able to keep going around without having to get off at all.

Family doesn't know it yet, but since we're staying at the Contemporary that night, we'll be staying until midnight.

Re: Mickeys Christmas Party?

dznygrl, the only time our family will go is right after Thanksgiving until mid December. One of those two weeks. There are NO crowds whenever we go (many, many time). However, by the time we leave, the last day is usually a little more crowded as the crowds begin to swell for mid December through Christmas.

Remember that it can be very cold down in Florida that time of year. 4 years ago we had to purchase hats, gloves, etc. since it was very cold. We prepared for the same type of weather 2 years ago and told everyone going with us to do the same. It was very warm and we didn't need the extra clothing. Be sure to pack a little of everything. Layers work great.

We booked as soon as the dates were announced and We also booked dinner at LT. It will be our first night (family tradition). The last time we did MNSSHP and had a blast. I know this will set the magic for our next trip.
