water parks in winter

Question for you all. Are the water parks' water rides heated? My DBF, his son and my DD have talked me into an afternoon at the water parks in January. They are going. I am hanging at the resort and "relaxing" unless they pay me to go..lol Any help is appreciated as always..thanks!

Re: water parks in winter

TL is closed during the winter I think, so BB would be your only option.

To me, unless it's over 75, there's no way I'm going near a water park.

Re: water parks in winter

I agree with you Matt, but I think they are going anyway. It seems the one park or thing I can get them to all agree on for of the days they are there with me and my DD. Let them go and freeze. I will be thinking of them as I sip my nice cold beer with my feet up..lol

I don't think the water parks are open in January. When we go late February, they are usally just reopening.

Re: water parks in winter

Hi Dana,

My DH and I went to Typhoon Lagoon years ago in January. The temp was in the 70's. I think the rides were heated -- I don't remember being cold at all while in the water, just a little chilly when we weren't. We were determined to go to a waterpark, though, because we had never been. Plus we could tell our family in MA that we were enjoying the water rides while they were shoveling snow!!

Re: water parks in winter

Dana, I just got this info from www.allearsnet.com: It looks like BB was closed in Jan of 2004.

BB's hours of operation for 2004?
February 1 - February 29: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
March 1 - April 3: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
April 4 - April 17: 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
April 18 - April 30: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
May 1 - May 31: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
June 1 - June 5: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
June 6 - June 26: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m
June 27 - June 30: 9 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
July 1 - December 31: Official Hours of Operation Not Yet Available

And for Typhoon lagoon, this is all it had to say about hours, but there is a phone number that may be able to give you more info:
"Any time of year that the park is open is a good time, but it does get very hot and very crowded during the summer peak season. In the cooler months, all of the nearly 3 million gallons of water at the park are heated. The park will typically be closed for about a month during the winter -- check for exact dates by calling (407)824-4321."

I'm with you, when I'm at Disney, I want to do the parks....I'm not in to the water parks. They are fun and all, but I have water parks back home.

I WENT TO BB IN JANUARY THIS YEAR AND THE WATER WAS PERFECT. IT WAS A LITTLE COOL AND RAINY, BUT NICE WHILE IN THE WATER. HOWEVER, TL WAS CLOSED. THE YEAR BEFORE, BB WAS CLOSED IN JANUARY.

Re: water parks in winter

Thanks for all the infomation everyone. If my DBF, DBF'DS and my DD want to go, then I'll let them. I will probally welcome a few hours of down time after two days of bickering..lol I kid somewhat, but you know how kids can be. They aren't used to spending that much time together (the kids I mean) and they are totally opposite in everyway and fights or disagreements break at random. This is the one thing I can get them to agree on for the second day,so I am going to let them go for it. It's their vacation to after all and my DBF and his son are only staying the for the first three days, so me and my DD can do whatever we want to do the last four.

BDavis - You couldn't pay me to go to a water park. It skeeves me for some reason (all of them not just WDW's) I'll go to MGM alone or hang at the resort for a few hours or maybe go to the spa!

Re: water parks in winter

Guess I came into this kinda late, but the parks are open and the rides like the resort pools are heated. Still it's just at 70-75 degrees, which is pretty cold to me!
The parks close depending on the refurbishing schedule, so either BB or Tl could be closed.
I just wanna know why go to a waterpark in winter...well unless you're from Europe, no offense but it seems like they love the cold!
