1st evening at WDW suggestions

HI all! My family will be arriving into Disney on a Monday evening - 11/1. Our kids are 2 and 3. We are trying to figure out what to do that night to kick our trip off right! We would like to do something exciting (This is our 1st trip) but don't want to use a day of PH. We thought of 2 choices (ideas from this forum) and made PS's. Please help us choose or give another suggestion. We will 1st check into POFQ around 5:00.
1) Dinner at O'hana at 7:00. Hang around afterward to catch fireworks from beach at 9:00.
or
2) Dinner at Chef Mickey's at 7:10. Try to see fireworks at 9:00 somewhere near restaurant.
Thanks for any tips!!!!

With kids I would go with option 2.

Thanks for responding. Is there anywhere good to view the fireworks after Chef Mickey's? I read about observation decks at the Contemporary. Are they opened to anyone?

Re: 1st evening at WDW suggestions

You might want to take a boat from the Contemporary (where Chef Mickey's is located) over to Fort Wilderness and watch the fireworks from the beach there. Or, take the monorail to they Poly and watch them from the beach there.

Your first night sounds so great. I agree with Chef Mickeys and then heading to a great spot to watch the fireworks like the Poly Beach.

I would also do Chef Mickey's and then take the monorail from the Contemporary to the beach at the Polynesian for the fireworks. Have a great time!!

Thanks everyone. We have taken your suggestion and will do Chef Mickey's, then the monorail to Poly beach for fireworks. I am really excited about this idea. Can't wait!

There is an observation deck on the 4th (I think) floor of the Contemporary. It's the floor where the shops are.

jennyd,

Chef Mickeys is great, you are going to love it! Your can watch the foreworks from the observation deck on the floor where the shops are.

Also, the beach at the Poly or the Grand Floridian are great for watching the fireworks, and if you get there early enough, you can also watch the water pageant (sp?).

Ciao,
Alfredo

Re: 1st evening at WDW suggestions

I would definitely do Chef Mickeys. This Oct. will be my son's 3rd trip (he will be 5 the day after we arrive). Outside Magic Kingdom my son wants to do Chef Mickey's, fireworks from Poly beach and Electric boat parade from Poly beach. We have stayed the past 2 years at the Poly but this year we are staying at the POFQ. We have to also ride the monorail so I am sure we will take a bus to the TTC and then monorail to Magic Kingdom every visit.

I am sure your kids will love Chef Mickeys. Hope you have a good trip. We are arriving a day earlier than our package dates so the first day we are there we may do the pools and water sports and maybe even check out the Disney Vacation Club since this is our third year in a row. My husband and I enjoy it as much if not more than our son. You'll be arriving about 2 weeks after we leave. Have fun.

Re: 1st evening at WDW suggestions

Definately Chef Mickey's!!!!! It would probably be an awesome sight to watch the fireworks on the observation deck of the Contemporary, BUT, with two little ones and trying to hold them watching the fireworks, would be scary. We were nervous with our 8yo DS just looking around. The beaches sound like much more fun. Whatever you choose, you will have a lot of fun.
