FastPass Question

I have question. In all that I've read about Fastpass (like hello, I thought of this when I was 8 waiting online for 20,000 leagues under the sea.....LOL) It is unclear to me if this is a service available to everyone or is it only available to those staying at a WDW resort.

Re: FastPass Question

A FastPass is available to anyone who has an admission ticket (so, everyone).

Re: FastPass Question

As Mickey says it is available to everyone and a nice way to do some of the more popular rides! We have loved using fastpasses and I hope they stick around for a LONG time.

Re: FastPass Question

While we're on the subject, I can't understand why anyone would wait in a 45 minute line knowing that FP was available.

Re: FastPass Question

Maybe they don't have time to wait an hour for their turn at FP and it's the last ride of the day for them???

Re: FastPass Question

There are somethings I'd wait 45 min for if I didn't have time to do a fastpass. Space Mountain is one of them. What I DON'T get are people waiting in a line that is 90 min instead of a fastpass.

Re: FastPass Question

To me, part of a successful park strategy is to have a separate fastpass strategy. Each time you get a fastpass it tells you when you can get another. We make sure we don't waste a single minute and always have at least one and sometimes two fastpasses in our pockets. Also, if there is a ride that only the kids want to do (R&R Coaster in our case) we still get four fastpasses and let the kids do it twice while we chill out at the food court or the shops. A good fastpass strategy is more vital the busier the parks get. But I do feel a certain satisfaction walking straight to the front of a 90 minute line with my fastpass in hand.

Re: FastPass Question

We will alot of times get a fast pass and then ride the ride too if the line isn't all that long. This June we relied on fast pass extensively for our whole family(6 of us, 5 with tix) and had no problems timing everything out. For a first timer or someone not as familiar with the layouts of the parks it can be a chore but if you have visited often it is a great time saver and you can do more things in less time.

Hey Tom! So nice to see you back!

How do you get 2 fastpasses at once? Wait, wait...Do you mean you can get another one at the beginning of the fastpass' hour window, even if you haven't used the fastpass yet? What? Really? Oh, crap, have we been wasting time! I always thought you had to use the one you were holding before you could get another. But then...now that I think about it...What a mess it would be if they were actually tracking the redemption of the little paper tickets in real time...The fact that they have CMs just collect them in a casual stack in their hand (rather than scanning them into the system) should have been a dead giveaway. Like, what was I thinking? That the CMs were sprinting backstage every 2 minutes to scan in all those little tickets? I can't believe I never figured that out... THANKS!!! Now we're going to be true FastPass Fandangoes!!! Arrrrr!!!

Here's another trick we used. We had fastpasses for Test Track but couldn't use them as it was broken down. The CM at the entrance gave us tickets for the next day, but we weren't there the next day. We were also able to keep our original unusable FP's. We noticed the CM on the entrance changed as we left, so we went back and he gave us another 4 tickets for the next day.

As it happened, it was three days before we went back to Epcot, but I had realised that it was unlikely that the CM's would look at the dates, they only look at the times. I was right and we rode Test Track three times each in one hour with FP's that were two or three days out of date.

I did consider bringing some unused FP's home and seeing if I could duplicate them on my colour copier, but I forgot! Anyway, that would be cheating and we English never do that!

I thought the same thing - Fast Passes say right on the ticket when you can get your next FP. We've tried to get two at once and couldn't. What am I missing?

You can't get two at once with the same ticket, but you can have two at the same time. When you get a fastpass it will say on it, for instance, your next fastpass can be obtained at such and such a time. Typically this can be 45 minutes after you got your first, but could be two or three hours depending on how busy the park is. If you haven't yet used the first pass, you can still get another provided it is after the time stated on the ticket. In other words the ticket has its one hour window in which you can use the FP and the time that you can get your next FP.
