Pirate cruise
I am thinking about booking a PS for my 4yo DS to go on the Grand Floridian Pirate Cruise. My wife and I have some reservations about letting him go alone at his age. Anyone out there have any info or personal experiences regarding this?
Thanks. ![]() |

Re: Pirate cruise
Both of my kids went on the Pirate Cruise this past February, and they loved it. There were only 7 kids counting my DS and DD with 2 adults. They talked about it for days. In fact, they still talk about it. I think it is perfectly safe. They give you a beeper when you drop your little ones off, and if for some reason you need to pick them up early, they will page you.
The only trouble that we had was that when I booked our reservations, the CM gave us the wrong time for the cruise, so when we showed up the Pirate Cruise had started 30 minutes prior. The nice CM's who worked there, signed in my two kids, got them into their life jackets, and then took them on a private boat to catch up with the Pirate Cruise. They felt extra special because they got to go on two boat rides and they still got to go on the treasure hunt and find the treasure. It is definitely worth it! ![]()

Re: Pirate cruise
We are planning on doing this in October so unfortunately I can't add a 1st hand experience. However, I have heard so many positives about this event that I am sure your 4 year old would love it.

Re: Pirate cruise
Make your reservation as soon as possible. It books quickly, the times we tried it was full. Does your child have experience in participating in things without you? (i.e. day care, preschool). Maybe you could use that to judge how well he will do without you.

Re: Pirate cruise
My DS and DD did this last summer. Their ages were 5 and 7 and they loved it. The CMs do a really great job with the kids. DH and I also loved it, we got some quiet time and hung out at the GF pool.

Re: Pirate cruise
Make sure first that your child isn't scared of pirates etc. We booked this last year for our 4 year old and got there and he would not go. He did get his loot since we had paid for it but he refused to go. We are going in again next month and I asked him if he wanted to do the pirate's cruise and he still says no. It does sound like fun and I think he would have enjoyed it but .... Hope you have better luck.
