interactive pins

I just got my 7 year old daughter about 20 new pins at the disney store (they are buy one get one free) so that she will have plenty to trade when we are there. but, i also heard that there are interactive pins sold at WDW that light up during different times. I believe there are 4 different ones. Where can i buy them in the park and how many of them are there? She doesn't want to trade them, she just wants to be able to where them throughout our stay. It sounds pretty neat to me. thanks:)

I actually believe there are five different pins, one for each park, and one for the 100 years of magic celebration. They are rather large, much bigger than regular sized pins, and rather thick as well. They can be purchased at the main pin outlet in each park and a couple of the stores in Downtown Disney. The cost is around $15 each. They are quite fun, since they light up at parades and shows, and during other special events.

The pins are a lot of fun. We bought one during our last trip. They do light up and blink during certain parts of rides, the parades, and just walking around the park. My daughter loves hers. I had read that the batteries expire quickly, but they do give you 2 additional batteries with your purchase. However, our pin worked druing our entire trip, and it finally ran out of gas several weeks after our vacation.

jgriff2388, did her one pin work in all the parks, or do you have to buy a separate pin for each of the parks? Only buying one would be great, please let me know. thanks:)

mj7379, the pins do work in all the parks. If you go to the www.waltdisneyworld.com site, and go the Walts 100th Celebration area, they have a section to complete on the pins. When you complete it, you will get a certificate to print. Take it to the socerer's hat at MGM. They have a gift shop there were you can buy the interactive pin, give them the certificate, and they will in turn give you a free Disney pin. Its a cute pin, it features Mickey sitting at a computer. You can buy the pins at any of the parks, or at the Disney resort gift shops.:)

Hey everyone, If you haven't noticed..I'm back! lol. I was only gone for a week to Jekyll Island, Georgia for my youth group retreat...but i suffered a severe case of withdrawl....i didnt know I was hooked to this site that badly! lol. Anyways back to the pins. I lovvvved the pins. I get one every trip to wdw I make, I figure since I go about 4 times a year I can get all 5 ( I got one right when they started selling them, at the beginning of the 100 years of magic celebration in dec.) So far I've only gotten 2 (the magic kingdom one and the 100 YoM one) Let me tell you they are a hoot!!! They went crazy when I was walking around the parks, on the rides, even at downtown disney!!! lol. My favorite part is the attention you get, it brings a smile to their face as they point to their friends to look at you....you meet alot of people by this, lol. It seemed that when I was watching fantasmic that more people were watching ME then the show! lol. They do give you spare batteries, they take watch batteries i think. I would say they last anywhere from 10-15 hours. I plan on getting all the rest soon, they are a bit expensive though (15 bucks!!!!) but i say its well worth it!!!
Joe:)

Thanks Kim! I have already warned DH that I want one and am going to buy it first thing! I don't spend much money on souvenirs at all, usually just a TShirt or something. But, for some reason this is something I really want (would really like to have a Pal Mickey, but at my age and with no kids along I might really get some strange looks!):D

TIP

When you buy the pins they come with the regular "metal" backs. Either take with you, or you can purchase there, some of the rubber backs to use. They are so cute anyway, they are black and in the shape of Mickey! This way you will ensure the safety of you pin staying with you and not falling off because you lost the backs!

:)

Linda, Thanks for the tip. Does the backing have a place to attach the interactive pin? How does it attach to your clothing? How much is it?
