Are There Any Attractions That Are Looking Like They Will Be Removed Or Changed Soon?

I just came back from a week in WDW in May. And, to be honest, quite a lot was different from only being away for a year.

They had the big hat in MGM. They added the attraction for Walt Disney. The Movie Ride was shut down. There was nothing at the old Doug attraction. Indy Jones had slightly changed. I remember going to Universal and the Hitchcock attraction is now terrible because they took out an entire part of it. At MK, the Toad ride was gone and there was a Buzz Light Year ride. The Carasouel of Progress was a no show. At Epcot they looked like they were building something with a big red ball as some kind of prop for the building...

I could state more but I think people get my point. :D

So, are there any rides that you think are on there way to death or might be changed? I know change HAS to happen, but I really don't like it. I hate leaving WDW and having to wonder if a certain ride or attraction might be there when I return in a year or two.

I don't think I'm going back to WDW next year. I think I'll take a year off and head back the following year. So, I'm very curious if certain attractions are about to meet there end or be changed.

Thanks everyone.

We went the first 2 weeks in June & really didn't notice much of a change from our last trip in December of 2000. When we went in April of 1999, Mr. Toad/Pooh's New Ride was being "refurbished", & Horizons at Epcot was being torn down ( ).

This past trip, the new Aladdins Magic Carpet ride was up and running (Yeah!!) (which was under construction when we went in 12/00.) The "who wants to be a millionaire" was open at MGM. The new "journey into imagination" open at Epcot.

In the last 2 trips we have also noticed they have opened Ariel's Grotto, Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin, & Playhouse Disney Show at MGM, & Several at Animal Kingdom.

When we went June, The Great Movie Ride was open and Carousel of Progress was open from 11 am to 5 pm. (You must of hit them in "refurbishment stage") (On our trip in 1994, we hit Spaceship Earth during refurbishment....what a bummer!) I would be upset if I missed The Great Movie Ride on my trip, I always do that ride twice!

I don't know of any rides that are currently on there way out the door, but I do know that the new space ride (Mission to Mars)that took Horizons place ( ) will be opening in 2003.

Also, I think they closed down River Country....not positive though. Maybe Mickey can confirm this for us.

As far as closures, I have not heard of any. I couldn't imagine ANY in the Magic Kingdom...every ride is a classic.

I hope things keep changing for the better!

Mission: Space at EPCOT is scheduled to open in the Spring/Summer of 2003. It's the first ride to be designed for use with Fastpass (although Test Track was the first to use it, it's not the first to be designed to work well with it) and will simulate spaceflight. It will include a simulation of weightlessness. How this will be done is not known to the GP yet.

River Country is closed indefinately, rumor is that it may be totally rehabed into a brand new park.

Space Mountain is rumored to be going down for a major, major rehab sometime next year. After that rumor has it that CoP will be going bye-bye and a new E-Ticket attraction will show up in that area. Personally, I think that's a horrable spot to put two huge attractions, but that's just my opinion.
