list top things you buy/pack from home

Hi everyone! My family (me, DH, DD-4, DS-2 1/2) are leaving 10/31 for our 1st trip to Disney. I have done alot of reading in past year in preparation, but need some help. I remember reading a long time ago that buying ponchos from Kmart (I think) before leaving can save time and money if it rains. Also, I read to bring quarters in a mini M&M tube.
Please help me shop and prepare to pack by listing the things you bring from home or purchase in advance to save time/money/energy. Thanks!!!

Re: list top things you buy/pack from home

We always pack our own snacks to take in the parks to save money and stay energized throughout the day (granola bars are the current fav for us). Last year we figured out that they allow small coolers in the park and now take a collapable one to carry bottled water in. Other than that, be sure and get the ponchos for the rain and don't be scared to get wet between rides if it does rain (most will run for cover and stay planted while your getting shorter ride lines :)

Re: list top things you buy/pack from home

Welcome to Disney Central! Hope you have a fabulous time.

Things to pack:

Backpack(s)
Extra Pair of Sneakers for each family member
Camera and Film (film costs a mint at WDW, as do disposable cameras)
Moleskin for blisters (and bandaids)
Hand sanitizer. (use this regularly throughout the day)
Hats
Non-perishable snacks (goldfish, fruit snacks, etc)
Sunscreen
Antiseptic spray or cream
Jackets or sweatshirt
Tylenol and any necessary drugs

I'm sure you'll get a lot more suggestions.

Have fun

Re: list top things you buy/pack from home

Ok here it goes, I would bring some sunblock, snacks, bottled water, big ziplock baggies for wet bathing suits, beach towels, juice boxes that you can freeze if you have a freezer where you are staying, disney dollars, an extra bag for all that you buy in disney, walkie talkies, cell phone and charger, extra film, sunglasses, I bought some fanny packs at walmart that also hold a bottle of water (that was great), extra pair of shoes, sweatshirts, a guide book, I also buy a small notebook and write down, Mon, Tues, and etc and plan which day what park we are going to and any Ps's that day also, and write down the parks hours. Well that is all I have hope it helps.

Re: list top things you buy/pack from home

I have to say I rarely pack much more than my clothes. I am from FL, and don't go during peak times; so I don't really need things like sunscreen or moleskin. The usual things that you might need (ie. Tylenol) are definetly things to pack. Just remember that everything at WDW costs $2 dollars more than it would at home, so things like film should be brought from home. The biggest thing is to bring Breakfast foods to eat in the mornings, the food courts are sooooo expensive, and I didn't find their breakfast foods to be very good.

Hense the reason I take up to four suitcases and two carry-ons....my one suitcase is almost four feet high and last year topped the max weight...lolol I can't help it., I'm an obsessive type A planner. Last year I actually forgot the camera. I had the stupid film, but left the camera at home. Of all of the things to leave, that was the most expensive thing to forget. Those disposable ones in the parks are ridiculous.

You mean I've been going to the parks all these years, without root boosting?? No wonder I can't get a date with Mickey.
