Mission: Space-To Ride or Not to Ride?
I have read some reviews on this ride and I am afraid of getting sick on it. Is there any other ride it compares to? I dont usually get sick but it seems that everyone does on this ride. Does it have the feeling of a rollercoaster?

Have you ever gone on the Rotor. You spin in this ride, but it is not as apparent, unless you look to your left or right (you are in a capsule type vehicle). If you watch the screen to the very front of you, or simply close your eyes, you will lose most of the feeling. But it does really push you into your seat, not like any coaster. Our whole family loves it, from the age of 5 to 35.

Re: Mission: Space-To Ride or Not to Ride?
I can't imagine anything as intense as Mission: Space. It is unlike anything else I've ever experienced. The two most frequent concerns are getting nauseous or claustrophobic. Only you know how you react to different circumstances. If you don't usually get nauseous on "simulator" rides and you follow the instructions exactly - look straight ahead, keep your eyes open. Don't turn your head: you should be all right. I'm very claustrophobic, but so much is going on in this ride, that I didn't even notice being shut inside the capsule. In our family, three out of four loved it. My husband didn't like it at all - but he gets sick on the teacups.

Re: Mission: Space-To Ride or Not to Ride?
llama is right. There is no comparrison to that attraction. My best advice to you is to try it once so you have no regrets of "what if" later on. If you follow the directions as they give them and keep you face forward for the duration of the ride, you shouldn't get sick. I did not have a twinge of sickness on the ride. I just didn't like the "closed-in" feeling it gave me. I am glad I opted to give it a chance though. It's definately a great attraction. My DD who is 10 loves it. She went back for a second spin as her old Mom sat on a bench and breathed the fresh air with no people shoved up against her........I'm clautrophobic if you haven't guessed.

Re: Mission: Space-To Ride or Not to Ride?
I would ride it early in the day....about an hour and a 1/2 after breakfast.
I, personally, love this ride and none of my family got sick on this. Just follow the "rules" of the ride.

Re: Mission: Space-To Ride or Not to Ride?
Ok, well I rode it and I am not a big thrill ride person. The only thrill rides I go on are Rockin Roller Coaster and Test Track, if you consider that a thrill ride. I was somewhat hesitant on riding Mission SPace and while you wait in line all you see hear is "If you have health problems do not ride" or somethign like that, but overall its not bad. I did feel a little disoriented for a few seconds after getting off but not that bad.

Re: Mission: Space-To Ride or Not to Ride?
We rode it right after it opened last year and I cannot wait until we get there next week to go on it again. My DD and I loved it. No nausea or sickness from either of us and she has even convinced her DGF to go on it this year. No way are we getting DGM on it, she is severely claustrophobic, afraid of heights, and has an incredible problem with motion sickness. She sits out of a lot of rides, and we did not question her decision not to ride. We knew what would happen if she went on it....YUCK!!!!

lol, yea I have a cousin who cant ride any fast, spinning ride or anything in that sort. Actually one year when we went to WDW he decided to ride the tea cups. Bad Idea. Lets just say he lost his Mickey Mouse pancakes and sausage on the tea cup...EWWWW....

Re: Mission: Space-To Ride or Not to Ride?
If you look straight ahead at the monitors you will not feel any spinning sensation. I can't stand the teacups but was okay on this. When the rocket "blasts off" you will beel a pressure sensation on your chest. This was too much for my asthmatic daughter, it took her breath away. While I didn't get sick, it isn't my favorite ride. Just be sure to look straight and not turn your head to the side.

Re: Mission: Space-To Ride or Not to Ride?
OK.. all the above advice is great and personally, I LOVE this ride.
However, there's one thing I think that's hard to gauge. DW has a mild inner-ear condition. It's never actually be diagnosed, so that makes it tough. But, certain types of rides that mess with your equilibrium really upset her. It's funny though. She LOVES Body Wars. In fact it's one of her favorite rides. She didn't like Star Tours as much. Body Wars seems to be more "herky jerky" where Star Tours seems to have more rolling and that's what really throws her off. She will never ride Mission:SPACE again. She lovingly refers to it as Mission:VOMIT or the Vomit Rocket. (Gotta love my wife, she has a way with words. ) She felt nauseous as soon as the car tips back and had to sit down for 20 minutes after. She never actually got sick, but she really had to work at it.I hope this offers some perspective. Remember, most people love it.

Re: Mission: Space-To Ride or Not to Ride?
Mission: Space? It's my absolute favorite ride anywhere! DD and I rode it (and rode it and rode it and rode it) about a week before its official "opening" last year when WDW was previewing it. We can't wait to get back next May to ride it and ride it and ride it. We go way back with WDW and can remember when the best "thrill" ride was Space Mountain - ha! Times have certainly changed! We also love ToT and RnR coaster, but Mission: Space is by far the tops. We don't have any particular problems with motion sickness, but understand others do. It's just something you'll just have to try if you want. Remember: Keep your head back against the headrest and obey the other rules - and have fun!

Re: Mission: Space-To Ride or Not to Ride?
I passed on the ride last year but my DW and 14 year old DD tried it. DW thought it was about the coolest thing she had ever been on. DD on the other hand ended up back at our room feeling very badly for the rest of the evening. Interestingly enough like Karliebug's daughter my DD is also asthmatic. I would really like to try the ride at some point, just have to see how things work out next trip.
