Another Planning Question! Daycare???

I would really like to surprise my wife with a night just for her and I... maybe a viewing of Cirqu Desol (sp?)... However, we have 6 & 2/3 yo and wondering if Disney provides day/night care at the resorts... if so, has anyone used and did you feel comfortable with the employee?? Not sure DW would do this, but I would really like to surprise her!

Re: Another Planning Question! Daycare???

I've heard GREAT things about the Disney baby-sitting services. They are professional and are as flexible as you'd like them to be.

I've heard that they bring games and have all sorts of cool ideas. I know that some folks leave behind a little spending money to go get a snack at the food court or hang out at the arcade for a little bit.

Re: Another Planning Question! Daycare???

A co-worker of mine stayed at Coronado Springs Resort and used Kid's Nite Out
1-800-696-8105 (press 0 for reservations). She was very happy with the sitter that took care of her two kids (ages 6 and 8). There also is a service called "fairy godmothers". I think the godmothers will take the children to the pool, arcade, etc. Where as the other just stays in the hotel room.

Kid's Nite Out Caregivers are at least 18, are insured and bonded, have hands-on training and childcare experience, including child/infant CPR and basic first aid. They will provide one-on-one in-room childcare in a Walt Disney World Resort room, and will provide a variety of activities, including reading, coloring, or games. A sitter can also be hired to accompany children to area attractions or act as father's/mother's helper. Kid's Nite Out also plans and works children's parties, camps, and children's theme conventions.

Hours: Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at all Walt Disney World Resorts

Rates are based upon the number of children --

* 1 child $14 per hour
* 2 children $16.50 per hour
* 3 children $19 per hour
* 4 children $21.50 per hour
(For groups of more than four children, call Kid's Nite Out for rates.)

NOTE: After 9:30 p.m., there will be an additional $2 an hour charge. A one-time transportation fee of $8 will be applied to each bill.

*All rates are hourly based. Four (4) hour minimum charge. Caregiver transportation fee is $8. Reservations that begin after 8:59 p.m. require an additional $2 per hour premium. Cancellations require a 24-hour advance notice. Advance reservations are required. Holidays and special events require an additional premium. Rates are subject to change.

Re: Another Planning Question! Daycare???

There are also "Kids Clubs" at the Poly, AK and a few other resorts where you can drop the children off and pick them up. We used Neverland Club at the Poly. Our DS seemed to have fun, we didn't though. Knowing he was with people we did not know, we just could not help but wonder how he was. We wound up picking him up early.

Good Luck!

Re: Another Planning Question! Daycare???

Isn't Kids Night Out only recommended by Disney, they are actually a seperate company? Not sure?

Re: Another Planning Question! Daycare???

Hey Ron. I use the kids clubs every trip. My DD like to go into them while I am packing up to go on our last night. I have used the one at WL and the one at AKL. Both were excellent and had planned activites or movies for the kids. There are many staff members there to help with the little ones. They usually open at around 4pm and stay open until midnight. Check with the resort you are going to use. I reccomend one close to DTD so you are close by. The cost is $10 per hour per kid. You can call WDW-DIne and book it or wait until you get there and make arrangements. Mostly all of the deluxes that I know have a child care facility on site and they are open to any WDW resort guest.

Dana, I really want to try the one at AKL. Our DS was ok with Neverland, but wasn't all that enthused. He is an animal nut and AKL sounds more like his style. He is 8, will probably be 9/10 our next trip. Thanks.

Re: Another Planning Question! Daycare???

We used Kids Night Out when my kids were 5 & 20 months old. We were staying at the Wyndam that trip. We had a suite & I had put the kids to bed before she came so she hung out in the family room - dh and I and friends of ours went out to dinner for the night. They did have a 4 or 5 hour minimum so we had a great long dinner at Jiko and then went out afterward for drinks. My kids never woke up so she literally just had to sit there. Very nice, older woman, she had id and everything. The concierge at our hotel recommended them highly, and said they are at the hotel every night sitting for people.

Re: Another Planning Question! Daycare???

The Disney hotels at the DLR all have nightly daycare centers that go from 5 pm until midnight...I'm sure that at least some of the hotels in Florida have the same thing.

(I can't imagine my kids attempting to behave in a daycare situation at 11 pm though!)

The AKL one was very cool. My ten year old loved it. They have two sweet older ladies than run it (or did when I was there) They made animal masks, had dinner and just played. They have a look out point to the savannah, but you aren't able to see much at night My DD can't wait to try the Neverland one this trip. It's so funny sending her there. I don't even go anywhere when she takes her little trips to the club. I just hang in the room and pack. She likes the chance to play with a kid or two and I like to pack in peace...lolol Hope this helps and that he likes this club.

Re: Another Planning Question! Daycare???

We just went through this. The kids clubs at the hotels are not good for kids under 4 and not potty trained. For this, you need to go to an outside source like Kids Nite Out, All About Kids, Fairy Godmothers for in room babysitting. Fairy Godmothers are good if you like older women who don't smoke to watch your kids. There is also KinderCare in the MK. I don't know the specifics about it, but I do know that you may not get in if it is very crowded. You can call Disney Information for that. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dana. I am hoping to try it on our next trip. Hopefully it won't bother me as much the second time around.
