Icon9 We decided to postpone . . .UPDATE

our trip due to Jeanne. We were supposed to fly out early Sat. AM but with Disney & Delta giving refunds, it seemed sensible to postpone. I'm trying to keep it all in perspective. We were supposed to have breakfast in the Castle this AM, but at least we have a roof on our house . . . But we're all still a little disappointed.

I had been planning this trip since March and now I get to start over! I'm down to two options:

Nov 13-17
Pros: We could catch the last day of the Food & Wine Fest @ Epcot.
We may still get to swim.
Cons: Stich is iffy.
Soap Weekend @ the Studios.

OR Dec 4-8
Pros: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
Stich is more likely.
Cons: Swimming is iffy.
The Pop Warner kids are there.(Not sure how that affects crowds.)

Our biggest issue is crowds. This is why we picked September. Which do you think will be the least crowded? Any other thoughts? Which would you pick?

Thanks!

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
After a couple of failed attempts at booking with those dates, we started over again and are booked at POFQ for Nov 30-Dec 5. I got an extra day out of the deal AND we have tickets to MVMCP on the 30th!! Now we are really starting to get excited. I've always wanted to stay at POFQ and even though we really wanted to try a water park, I never dreamed we'd get to go to the Christmas party. So it appears to be all working out! Thanks for the encouragment!! Now to figure out PS's!

Re: We decided to postpone . . .

I have never seen the christmas decorations or gone to MVMCP so I would pick the Dec dates.

Re: We decided to postpone . . .

We are going in December and have been told that the crowds should be very light!! However I was told that about October last year and ended up planning right on top of Columbus Day!! Crowds to my understanding were up, but nothing compared to the summer!

Oh btw what is Pop Warner Kids?

Re: We decided to postpone . . .

If you have young-ish children, you MUST pick December and do MVMCP!!! I've heard nothing but raves about this event as for as kid-centered-enjoyment is concerned!

As for the swimming, we usually go the 1st week of Decembers. Sometimes it's managable, sometimes (like last year!!!) it's not. But, the pools ARE technically heated all year round -- even though it doesn't much feel like it to me! -- and people have swam in them on the coldest days because of this. Remember too that the "spas" (whirpools) if you're staying at a resort that has them are nice and toasty warm all year round and there's a bit of room to splash in them if your kids aren't too big.

The decorations are cool to see, especailly at some of the resorts. If you're worried about the cold, it doesn't seem like there'll be all that MUCH of a difference between your Nov & Dec dates, so I'd pick going for December when there'll be more to see than chancing with Nov when the weather might be just what you were trying to avoid in Dec.

Re: We decided to postpone . . .

Sorry you had to postpone. It was a wise decison though. You now have more time to save...one bright point. I would go with December if it were me choosing. You will have the decorations and lights to look forward to and a better chance at seeing stitch. Definately go then. I wish I could.

Sorry you had to postpone. I'd go for December, too. It would be great to see all the decorations. And with the weather behaving the way it's been this year, who knows, you might just have a heat wave.

Re: We decided to postpone . . .

I think you can't lose with either of those timeframes. I went around the time of November 9-13 last year, weather was great (definitely able to swim, but it was not unbearably hot) and the Food and Wine Festival was just amazing. Also, at that time some of the Holiday decorations had started to go up at the hotels.

In 2002, I was there from Nov 30-Dec 4 and also had a great time. Weather was a little cool so no swimming but the holiday decorations were beautiful and we did it all - MVMCP, Candlelight Processional and Osborne Spectacle of Lights. Crowds were also very light then!

I think either timeframe will be great - have a great time!

Re: We decided to postpone . . .

I vote for December, sorry you had to postpone, but seems like a wise choice. And in regards to swimming, when were down there in Dec, I will just keep thinking of the snow up north, where we came from...that should help us.

If you decide to do MVMCP check available dates, we just recieved our tickets, but they say they can sell out.

Sorry to hear you had to postpone, I can sympathise we were supposed to fly out Sunday but had to postpone, luckily our Travel Agent found us flights and car hire for the same price for this Thursday so (and I'm not counting my chickens) I think its going to work out. I'm sure it'll work out for you too.

Re: We decided to postpone . . .

I'd definitely say December dates because of the Christmas decorations and atmosphere. You could also do the Candlelight Processional.

Re: We decided to postpone . . .

December, definately. You have a better chance of getting room requests, Christmas decorations (Osbourne Lights are back at MGM!) and crowds much less at the beginning of the month before the Christmas rush!

Re: We decided to postpone . . .

Well, my travel agent tried December, but the choices were the All Stars and Beach Club. DH doesn't want to go value and Beach Club was just too much.

So at this time, it looks like it is November. We were booked at the Coronado, but this time we are getting the POFQ which I'm excited about. Any suggestions on what building to request?

Thanks for the thoughts, I'm really ok with this, just kind of mentally exhausted from having to make a tough decision. I do feel so bad for the folks who have worried about their homes.

Re: We decided to postpone . . .

Don't feel you have to apologize. It is stressful to have to change plans and rearrange everything. Glad it worked out for you. POFQ is a wonderful resort! I'm sure you'll like it. It's very small, so I don't really think there are any "bad" rooms.
