How busy is it during Thanksgiving?

We are considering going to WDW during Thanksgiving next year. But we are not sure how busy it will be in the parks. We will have 4 impatient kids with us so it will be a matter of sanity for us adults!

Re: How busy is it during Thanksgiving?

We have been during the week before and then last year, the week of Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving Day it was not too bad, and Thanksgiving dinner at the Crystal Palace was great, but that weekend it was pretty crowded. Then on the Monday after, it was empty again, really a very weird feeling, kinda like locust decending and then leaving. We just scheduled out of the park activities on the Saturday after and then went from there. I don't know if I would go back for that weekend again, but certainly the week before or the week after would be great.

Re: How busy is it during Thanksgiving?

Thanks Harry!

We would get there on the Sunday before Thanksgiving and leave Saturday morning after. So we won't be going into the parks that weekend. I think this might just work out great. Do they have any special activites for Thanksgiving or is supper the only thing. How was the temp. during that week? Was it to cold to swim? We are from northern Indiana so swimming weather for us is in the mid to upper 70's.

Re: How busy is it during Thanksgiving?

My family and I went last year. We got there the Saturday before, and left Thanksgiving evening. It was very crowded every day, and seemed to get a little worse each day...The weather was not at all cold, but I would go so far as to say it was swimming weather!

Re: How busy is it during Thanksgiving?

I will be going this year for Thanksgiving, arriving the Friday before leaving the Monday afterwards. I will be sure to post a report on the crowds. I am expecting heavy crowds and I am trying to be prepared for it by planning as much as I can.

Re: How busy is it during Thanksgiving?

They should have the Osborne Family lights back up this year, we really were bummed to miss that last year. And possibly Mickey's Very Magical Christmas Party, MVMCP was one of the big highlights to our trip. We went the Sunday after Thanksgiving and just had a wonderful time. I mentioned to my DW that I wish we still had little kids for that one as the amount of storytelling and special kiddy style treats were great.

As too swimming, we are from Chicago so in our mind the weather was great, I think we swam all but two days during the trip. As always this time of year you are best to bring several wardrobes . I will never forget the year we talked to a family at the bus stop. My DW commented on how cute they looked in their matching Y&BC sweatshirts. The mom just rolled her eyes and said they had just spent over $200 to buy warm clothes because all they had brought was shorts and T-shirts!

Enjoy,
-harry

Re: How busy is it during Thanksgiving?

My family planned a trip for the week before Thanksgiving because we had no other time to go, and we expected it to be packed. But honestly, it was one of the least crowded trips we've ever taken!! We noticed it got a little more crowded when we left the day after Thanksgiving, but still not nearly as bad as we expected. You should be fine, mistikbunny, and your impatient kids too! As for the weather... I'm a full-blooded Florida girl so anything below 80 is cold for me. But I don't remember it being too bad - I think I wore long sleeve shirts - so I'm sure anyone else would find it nice and toasty!
