Passholders are being offered a preview of the enhanced Magic of Disney Animation at MGM. The preview dates are Oct. 15-17, from noon to 6 p.m. Here's the blurb from the WDW passholder site:

I honestly don't know when the "official" opening is -- or even if there is an official opening. I wasn't even aware that Disney was retooling the attraction after the demise of the animation studio.
I'll try to find out some additional information.

And, yes, Dana, DW and I will surely be there on one of the preview dates to check it out.

Thanks PH, I will look into it more also : ) I did notice when we were there a few days ago (gosh it feels good to say that, lol) that it was closed.

I found information on one non-official Disney site that says the Magic of Disney Animation was down for rehab from Sept. 13 through Sept. 24, but no other info. I also got an e-mail from WDW this morning inviting me to the Passholder Preview Oct. 15-17, so I still don't really know if the attraction is currently up and running or if there will be an official opening after the PH preview.

Are they making it more like the California one? I haven't been yet, but the "animation station" sounds a little like what they have there. The character meet and greet idea seems odd. I mean, if you want to meet say Mulan, why would you bring your little ones through the long tour film etc. to see her? And if you are interested in the animation thing, are you really gonna care that [insert character name here] is standing there at the end when you can see him/her/it in one of the character greeting spots elsewhere in the parks?

I wondered that too rlander .. specially after they fired them all. I loved the Robin Willaims being turned in to a Lost Boy and Walter Cronkite. I was always start struck seeing the annimators work on up coming films. The recent tour has been a huge disappointment with the only good part being the end where the girls would get to learn how to draw different charactors.

Park Hopper please please keep us up on any info you get and if you do go, please give us your opinion of this new Annimation Tour.
