I'm sure many, if not most of you, already know about my mock proposal for a new Disney theme park resort I've posted here earlier. I now have come up with a few thoughts on Space Mountain in my Magic Kingdom/Disneyland-like park. Since I have never been to WDW or any other Disney theme parks, any only have a rough understanding of the designs and track layouts of various rides, this is by no means complete, but will give you more-or-less of an idea on what to expect! In a nutshell, Space Mountain in my MK park will be similar to Disneyland's (and Tokyo Disneyland's) ride (a longer, single track ride with side-by-side seating as opposed to 2 ride tracks and in-line seating in WDW's Space Mountain), with some features of Disneyland Paris' Space Mountain. The music, sound effects, special effects, and possibly the "Earth to the Moon" storyline of Disneyland Paris' ride will be used. The track design will be basically Disneyland's, with a few of the less-intense elements or Disneyland Paris' Space Mountain ride. The ride intensity of my Space Mountain will remain the same as Disneyland's however, as Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris seems a bit to intense to fit into a Magic Kingdom park to me, particularly in a U.S. theme park.
The "mountain", or ride building will be 123 feet tall and 200 feet in diameter. WDW's is 183 feet tall and 300 feet in diameter, and Disneyland's is 75 feet tall and 200 feet in diameter-- with 17 feet of ride track underground. Mine will have all track above ground like WDW's Space Mountain, which will help account for the extra height! Also, 123 feet X 200 feet will give my Space Mountain the same exact shape as WDW's, only smaller. Disneyland's Space Mountain is flatter-looking than the one in WDW's Magic Kingdom. I modeled my Space Mountain after Disneyland's (with a dash of Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon at Disneyland Paris) since nearly everything I have heard or read so far says that Disneyland's Space Mountain is better than the one at WDW's Magic Kingdom, as well as the fact that WDW's Space Mountain is much more closely related to the Matterhorn Bobsleds (a coaster in Disneyland's Fantasyland, which I also have in my proposed park!) than Disneyland's Space Mountain. If anyone has questions, comments, and/or suggestions, please feel free to post! ![]() |

Re: Thoughts on Space Mountain (so far) in my proposed Magic Kingdom park
Nice idea kent, but Im sure Disney wouldnt want the track design to be exactly like DLR's, So Im sure it would change a bit. :-)

WDW may have lots more than Disneyland, but Disneyland has Quality, and Quality triumphs over Quantity.
