There are too many things I miss...

Alien Encounter, of course. I loved it a lot, ever since I finally got the nerve to ride it a few years back. I could even quote most of it. Alien Encounter... *sniffle*

Wonders of Life. It still exists, but it's never open when I'm there! And the sign does not say why it's closed. Having things open "seasonally" is kind of silly to me.

Sky-way. I LOVED THAT! The view was amazing (except for the fact that the tops of the attraction buildings were dirty and completely visible from that viewpoint, lol) and I loved just barely moving and freaking out my DGM. ^_^

20,000 leagues. I haven't seen that in forever. I heard that its maintenance costed too much. But technological costs have gone down. If only Disney could bring that out, because I loved seeing it...

And finally...

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I was soooooo upset when they took it away. There were editorials and things saying that it was "a bad influence, teaching children to steal cars", and "too scary, the devil being at the very end of the ride". I was young then, and I thought nothing of it. I didn't even know the car Mr. Tod drove was stolen at the time. So, who really cared except for the ones trying to take away a part of classical Disney? Next, Peter Pan's Flight will be taken away for containing swordfights. hahahahaha...

Re: There are too many things I miss...

See, I was a "WDW-deprived child" when I was growing up so I've never even heard of those rides! I so wish that I had been on them!!! I'm so jealous of all of these people that have been going to WDW for years and years. I missed out on a lot! But I can agree with Alien Encounter because I have been on that . The first time I went on that, I thought that I was going die from excitement! I loved that ride. Too bad its gone.

A cute story about VTSFY when she was 3 and on World of Motion ..we were going up and you could look down and see the people in the cars below .. she yelled down to them "Hi little People"
I miss Horizons too .. but my DGD know that "if you can dream it ..you can do it" right VTSFY?

and ShipGirl04, VSTFY was never Disney Deprived .. lol we took her and her sister 3 times this year ..if anything ..they were over dosed on Disney since birth :)

Re: There are too many things I miss...

We all say we would not miss IASM, but deep inside you think we may??? I remember going on it when I was younger with my parents, and so does my wife. It does have memories, but now that they are rehabing it totally, I think we are all stuck with that song, and now in digital surround sound "( ")

Oh you have brought back some nice memories. I do enjoy Pooh and every time we ride it I explain to the kids who is handing the key over. I was also lucky enough to ride 20,000 Leagues the very first time I visited in the early 90's and it made me sad to see the area left "empty" for so long. It is great that they are finally doing something to that area. I did enjoy AE alot and I think they just wanted a Disney tie-in there and 626 was natural choice. From what I have read and heard it still can be too intense for youngsters. Thanks for bringing up some attractions that left us.

Re: There are too many things I miss...

I really miss the Timekeeper - another seasonal ride - only it's never open in my season. The ones I miss the most are World of Motion and Horizons at Epcot and All Star Television at MGM. My oldest DD got to play "Ginger" from Gilligan's Island there when she was about 10 and it was the highlight of her trip. We have an adorable picture of her all dressed up in an evenng gown and feather boa. Ah, memories!

Lol, my DSis is running back and forth from the PC to the door and back, waiting for the lunar eclipse.

I got to see timekeeper last time we went. Which was good, since I haven't seen it in years. It's cute, and everyone loves Robin Williams.

Re: There are too many things I miss...

I miss Carosel of Progress... if they ever totally get rid of that, I will cry. And it won't be pretty.

I also miss Mr. Toad. When I was little I was convinced I was actually driving the car. And Alien Encounter... the one place in Disney where you could be scared out of your mind! It was great! I always got freaked out and I loved it!

And I miss the good ol' Figment with the upstairs full of all that cool stuff to do. I don't know, might not have really been that cool, but when I was little I was so amazed that I could stand in front of a screen and magically be in a movie with Figment!

Sigh... but I guess losing all those means bigger and better things are coming, right?
