Den,
I know this is not my thread, but did you like the illuminations cruise. I booked it in January for my son's 15th birthday. Can you see all around world showcase? Thanks in advance for the info.

Re: Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise?

Could someone please tell me how I can book an illuminations cruise? I have been to WDW for many years but never done the cruise.

Thanks

You can book it through the dining number, I believe.

We did, last September for my DH's birthday. It was great. I would recommend it to anyone. The girl who drove our boat (Andrea) had so much information to tell us. After the fireworks were over, she drove us over to FW to watch the Electric Water Pagent. We really enjoyed ourselves that night.

Re: Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise?

YES, you need to call the # 90 days in advance. They typically book out within minutes. When we did it in October it took three days of trying to get through, so, do not save this event for your last day, you may not get it!

It is worth every $$, so much fun.

Re: Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise?

We did the illuminations cruise, too, and it was amazing. Be sure to start calling at 6:58 AM on the morning you want to book (call 407-WDW-PLAY -- it's the recreation number), and once you get put on hold, STAY THERE until a CM picks up (the "holders" are first come first served).

I've not been on a Wishes cruise, yet -- I imagine it would be just as wonderful and magical as the Illuminations cruise, though! :)

Re: Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise?

Is there a diferrent fireworks cruise for grand gatherings. We are thinking about booking the cruise listed under grand gatherings for our may trip. It says it it includes desserts, fireworks and water pagent viewing, and if I am not mistaken story telling and meet and greet with peter pan. Has anyone done this? It sounds awsome. We have 3 DD's and Our friends traveling with have a DD and DS twins. He is a huge pirate fan so we thought the pirate storytelling and peter pan meet would be perfect.

Re: Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise?

Yes tigger03, you are talking about the Magical Fireworks Voyage. I used to work that experience part-time and can tell you it is awesome. You meet at the Contemporary Resort 1hr 15min before the fireworks for a dessert reception with Hook and Smee then the pirates of your vessel come and meet you. You then board either the Hook or Smee boat (a.k.a. MK1 or MK2) for a boat ride to the Seven Seas Lagoon to watch Wishes. The state of the art onboard audio will play the music in unison with the show and on the way back to the Contemporary you will view the Electrical Water Pageant as well as hear your pirate tell the story of Peter Pan. But guess who greets your boat upon arrival, none other than the boy hero himself, Peter Pan. It is definetely worth the money if you are on a Grand Gathering. Hope it helps!

We did the Peter Pan/7 Seas Lagoon voyage last March and loved it. We also have twins (DD/DS age 9 at the time) and my sister's kids were 3 & 8...they all loved it, even in the rain (actually I think the rain added to the ambiance of the night). It was so cool and we strongly recommend it!! Yes, it's a private meet and greet plus you get a hilarious pirate guide. Check out BDavis932's March trip report, I'm sure she has it all detailed out...she's so good about that and PLANNING too!!
Book it, you won't regret it!!

Re: Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise?

In 2001, we did a simple fireworks cruise from the Poly. We had the boat to ourselves that night (Oct 2001, wonder why?). This was for the old Fantasy in the Sky show, which seems to be incorporated into the Halloween show now. I don't know what they're doing out on the lagoon for Wishes, I've been too busy viewing it in the park. We've done the Illuminations cruise twice, both times as part of the old Grand Plan, so we had much less of a problem booking during our stay. For the Illuminations tour, you tie up just underneath the bridge from England to France. The view is slightly cut off by the island and trees on the right, but overall not a bad view and nobody will be standing in front of you.
