How early is too early to start planning?

Thinking about booking a vacation to WDW over Christmas in 2005. When is a good time to book rooms? Do they ever have any discounts during this time of the year?

It's never too early to start planning your WDW vacation. If room discounts come out after you book you can call back and apply the discount to your booked room.

Re: How early is too early to start planning?

cj! you first must order a vacation planning video (just call them... they will be happy to send it!) and then watch it every day, savoring the resorts, the parks, the activities, the fireworks, the restaurants, etc... And buy books and guides and come to DC every chance you get! Watch the Travel Channel for WDW shows, and plan those priority seatings on a spreadsheet, because you will change your mind dozens of times before you actually can call (most are a couple of months in advance, but some like Cinderella's Royal Table, etc., are available way, Way, WAY in advance!). And shop, for Pete's sake, shop! For clothes and fanny packs and fun stuff! And talk about your trip to everyone who will listen!
That's the stuff I do, anyway...

There is no such thing as planning too early. We started at 500+ days. It gives you time to think about what you want to do, research what you think you want to do, and then time for everyone to change your mind on what you want to do. You can have fun figuring out how to save money, go to the Disney Store every couple of week and buy Disney Dollars and put them away and all sorts of fun things like that.

Keep asking and you'll get lots of answers to all your questions.

Have fun planning!

Re: How early is too early to start planning?

Book those rooms right now. You can do it in small payments and pay over time. Before you know it, the whole trip will be paid off. It's never to early to plan a WDW trip.

I don't remember when value season ends and holiday season begins, but if you book your vacation on the last day of value season, you will get the value season price the entire vacation.

Re: How early is too early to start planning?

We are also planning a trip to WDW in Dec. 05. I am waiting till after Christmas to make my res. but you can make them right now. As it gets closer to your trip keep calling and checking for discounts and they will just apply to you. So if you have it paid oof by the time the discounts come out, you get a credit. They don't send your money back, but you'll have a credit for whatever the amount due you is. Being a Florida resident, I don't do packages.. so I don't know how that works. I have already made my res. for Hoop-Dee -Doo Revue. I made those in Aug. before they changed the system so I didn't even have to put a deposit down. I wish you could CRT that far in advance. I feel like that would give me a better shot at getting in there.

Yes, on your hotel room you can. You simply put down a deposit, and then call back CRO when you want to make another payment.

I think most travel agents will allow you to make payments as well {{ask mouseketrips (www.mouseketrips.com)}}.

When we used to book a package before we bought in to DVC, we always booked through our local travel agent and we took her payments every now and then until we paid it off. We would book it and have 10 months to pay it off (if I remember right, it had to be paid off 60 days before arrival). If you do this, you might want to consider trip insurance (it's cheap!)....
