DINOSAUR! Does it scare you?
I think my family must be wierd. None of us, including DD, who was 7 when we rode it, was even remotely frightened by DINOSAUR! On top of that DW and I were actually quite annoyed at the premise of the ride. I suppose we're just science snobs (I'm a software developer and she's a nurse). Ignoring protocols in a laboratory environment just isn't cool to us.
Anywho.. what do you think?

Re: DINOSAUR! Does it scare you?
We love DINOSAUR! Doesn't scare us but we sure are surprised every time we get out in the nick of time
![]() (my one complaint about the ride is that it to loud...they could turn down the volume just a tad)

Re: DINOSAUR! Does it scare you?
One of those that I found very scary the 1st time but after knowing what to expect it wasn't as scary the next time. Also being in the front of the car adds to the effects. So I think it has alot to do with where you are sitting and whether or not you know what to expect.
Attached is our ride picture from the 1st time we rode. We are the ones in the front row.

Re: DINOSAUR! Does it scare you?
If you asked me during a conversation if it scared me, my quick reply would be "No, of course not. Don't be silly." However, upon examination of all the "caught in the moment" pictures I've bought at the end of DINOSAUR, I notice that rarely am I identifiable in the picture. That's because I have this tendency to be ducked down, face covered, using the person seated in front of me as a human shield when the "Big Guy" makes his surprise appearance overhead!
So does that mean that I actually AM scared by the ride? I'll never admit it, no matter what the photographic evidence implies.

Re: DINOSAUR! Does it scare you?
I think the ride is a lot of fun!! When it first opened, I have to admit, it did sort of scare me!! It was sooo dark inside!
I think they have added a bit more light since then so you get a little more sense of where you're going. It may not be factual, but then again, we don't go to WDW for facts do we?! ![]() |

Re: DINOSAUR! Does it scare you?
Come to think of it, the cowering I usually do may not be fear-based. I think I've just finally caught on to Disney's penchant for spraying its guests with water when they least expect it. I suspect that part of me is just preparing in case a dinosaur "spits" on me when I least expect it!

It's really funny that you say that though. I remember when I was a junior in high school and my Chemistry teacher was explaining to us how he was driving down the street one summer afternoon and he saw someone's irrigation system running. He thought to himself that the spray pattern resembled a certain type of electron-cloud orbit. I remarked out loud, "Mr. Connors, you're such a dork!" Well, he looked at me sternly and said, "Thank you Mr. McDonnell for trashing everything that I'm about." Funny thing is, I ended up a chemistry major in college and now I understand EXACTLY where he was coming from. I'm proud to be a dork. Thank you very much! ![]()

![]() Dinosaur's a scary ride the first time through, but then after that it's not so bad. It's just lights flashing up on dinos in the midst of pitch blackness. (and extremely loud sound effects - I agree with you tigger!) But I like those throw-you-around rides, so I keep going on it. I still think they changed it somehow when they made the switch from Countdown to Extinction to Dinosaur... it seems darker and rougher to me now, almost to the point where it gets annoying by the end. But that's just me! Still a great ride and I still go on it! :)
