Can anyone give me the low-low on baby swapping?!

(No, I don't want your baby - mine is cute enough for all of us)

I will be traveling with my DH, DS10, DD8, and DD(baby)

Will my children have to (Get to?) ride twice, or will they have to sit one ride out with the adult/baby.

:c)

Re: Baby Swapping

It's for rides that are not appropriate for young children - like Space Mountain. Your young one won't ride at all, your older ones could very well ride several times (explained below).

Assuming it's the same system as DL, the way it works is one parent waits in line, and the other parent has the baby swap pass, which you get from the CM at the entrance (just go up with your child and ask for it - you won't get without a young child with you), then the other parent (with the pass) waits by the exit with the child(ren). Then as parent #1 has ridden the ride and comes out through the exit - you "swap" the children and parent #2 walks into the ride through the exit, presents the pass to the CM's operating the ride, and gets to ride the ride without having to wait in line.

The passes are good for two people, so if you're there with other adults or older children you won't have to ride alone. If parent #1 rides with one of your older children, parent #2 could very well walk back into the exit with the same child and that child will get to ride twice.

The Baby Center usually has a list of rides that offer Baby Swap passes.

Re: Baby Swapping

Disneywife - it works the same way at WDW. My son loved it when his little sister was tiny. He rode everything twice! He just thought that was the way it was done at WDW. Imagine his surprise when his sister got older (and taller!) and he had to wait in line EACH time he wanted to ride something! I think the Magic Kingdom lost a little bit of magic for him on that trip!

We have the same number (DS 10, DS 8, and a then 3 year old). Both DSs got to ride all Baby swap rides twice. It's good for parent + 2. Your kids will love it!

Also, some rides (like RnRC) you will actually have to get off the ride, go out and find your spouse and then re-enter thru the fast pass lane. Rides like Star Tours, your kids will not even get off because spouse and baby wait right outside the exit doors. All rides do it differently. Just ask the attendent when you get to the ride. They will tell you what to do.

Re: Baby Swapping

Splash Mountain has you enter through the Fast Pass line. They have a nice little play ground there for the kids while they wait.

Erin its really a great playground ...
you know we did something like the baby swap ..thanks to a very nice CM at the TOT. My DH had never seen the inside of TOT ..much less been to the elevators .. I asked a CM while my granddaughters and I were waiting to get in an elevator would it be possible for my husband to come this far in his w/c... I explained he always waited outside and would love to see all the stuff ..he gave us a baby swap pass :) we went back through with DH ..but when we got to the elevators DH and I went out the excit and the girls went on the ride again.

Re: Baby Swapping

I remember reading that in your trip report. I love it CMs go out of their way to accomidate you. Your DH deserved the extra effort, and it's cool that he got to experience it.

Also, I meant that I thought the playground was a neat idea. I hope I wasn't sounding sarcastic.

Last time the kids went they whined about waiting in line. I think they are really going to be pleased with the whole babyswap thing. I really meant they are going to be glad we had that baby!!

Oh Tinkerbell - that is soooo wrong! Don't you hate that?? It's the same way when you have the baby. All the REALLY cool stuff comes out AFTER they are too big for it!

Re: Baby Swapping

Aww! Congrats to you Jenny!

I'm not EXACTLY sure on the dates, yet. It depends on a few things. I'm thinking las week in Jan/first week in Feb.
My husband gets switched around on his schedule alot, and we've already taken an 8 day vacation this year. We have to wait for his long weekend....
