Starting to plan, advice please?

Okay, I have bought the family AP's, except for one adult. I am holding out on that one in case they bring back the stay 5 get 2 day free deal. We want to go sometime in June or July. In the past when we have gone in July we found lots of tour groups of 100 or more who made instant lines wherever they happened to be. Does anyone know if this is still a problem in July? I am really thinking of around June 15 as our arrival date because that will be after school lets out. Our other option is August, when we usually go. We are pretty much settled on POR because there are 5 of us and that is the only room for 5 in a moderate. We could go 2 rooms at a value of there are discounts available. When should we go? June 15, sometime in July, or August???

The end of August is always a little less crowded, so that would be my choice, hands down (I hate crowds and waiting!). :)

Re: Starting to plan, advice please?

I'm not sure when the tour groups go in the greatest numbers, but I have run into some at many different times.

As a general rule of thumb, June tends to be the rainiest month, even though the crowds don't reach huge proportions until the very end of the month. July and August are the most hot and humid months, along with being the most crowded. With the exception of the second half of August, as Bali stated. A lot of schools go back into session then and the crowds drop off.

The best part of touring in the summer months is longer park hours and more activities and nighttime events.

Re: Starting to plan, advice please?

June & July are going to be hot & crowded because schools are out. I know this because we like to drag our kids down to WDW and stand in 95 degree heat.

The previous poster is right, the last couple of weeks of August have smaller crowds because many schools are already back in session. Here in Illinois, they go back in mid August. In Florida, they go back the first & second week of August.

One word of caution. If 2004 is an example, late August is hurricane season. I was at WDW this year the first week of August, and about 5-days after I left the first big one hit. But heck, what's a little 120 mile an hour wind going to do?

Any Holiday at WDW is bound to be jam packed, however according to the Unofficial Guide it is no more packed than a normal day in July. They rated it a 9 out of 10 for business. I wouldgo with late August.
