As many of you already know, I included Storybook Land in Fantasyland in my Magic Kingdom-like park from my proposed Disney theme park resort that I was designing. In case you're not familiar with what I'm talking about, Disneyland has an area in Fantasyland called Storybook Land, which has miniatures of the houses, buildings, and settings from many of Disney's fairy tale-like cartoons; such as Cinderella, Snow White, Peter Pan, and Pinocchio, just to name a few! Guests are taken through Storybook Land two ways, either by boat (Storybook Land Canal Boats) or by train (Casey Jr. Circus Train, from the animated film Dumbo).
For my Casey Jr. Circus Train ride, which also takes guests through Storybook Land, along with the boats, I made the train's cars larger and MUCH less confining, ESPECIALLY the animal cage cars. This would help allow more comfortable riding for adults, especially large adults! Also, all of the train cars will have rooftop covers, in case of inclimate weather. Last but not least, I decided to modify the ride's opening a bit. If anyone has never seen Dumbo (1941) before, when Casey Jr. exclaims "All Aboard! Let's Go!", that's not the actual "All Aboard" call for the train, but Casey's response to it! Disneyland's Casey Jr. Circus Train, however, uses Casey Jr's. response alone in the opening. I decided to make mine more true to the animated movie, by addition the actual "All Aboard" call before hand. For the actual "All Aboard" call, I will used the recording of voice actor Thurl Ravenscroft (voice of Tony the Tiger, among other things!) used on Disneyland's Railroad, which is followed of course by Casey Jr. tooting "All Aboard! Let's Go!", and then the train takes off on its journey through Storybook Land! WDW's Railroad uses a live "All Aboard!" call from the train conductor. I was going to use the same for the main railroad in my Magic Kingdom-like park, thus giving mine the best of both worlds; using a live call for the railroad's train, and the recording for Casey Jr. Circus Train! If anyone has questions, comments, and/or suggestions, please feel free to post! ![]() |

I also have a drawing of the layout of Disneyland's Storybook Land, which comes from the book More Mouse Tales, enclosed at the bottom of this page.
Enjoy! ![]() |

Re: A few thoughts on Casey Jr. Circus Train (in Storybook Land) in my proposed MK park
You are putting alot of work into this. Is this just a hobby?
I really like the idea of you staying true to the animated movie Dumbo. Very good! You really have a LOT of detail!!!! Very talented!

Thanks so much! Yes, this is a hobby of sorts, but there's a little more to it than that! This Disney theme park I am designing was done for WDWMagic Imagineer forum, another WDW/Disney website where I also post. Dozens of other parks like mine have been designed on their Imagineer forum as well! http://www.wdwmagic.com http://forums.wdwmagic.com BTW, is that your daughter with you in your avatar picture? She is so adorable! ![]() |

Re: A few thoughts on Casey Jr. Circus Train (in Storybook Land) in my proposed MK park
Why make the cars bigger? I think many of us adults happen to like crouching down inside a cage for a super-fun train ride!
NOT!! Anyway, having been on both of these rides several times, the way to see the minature villages is by boat. The train goes much too fast for a good look at all of the detail, but the boat is very slow and you can really get some good looks. Most people who ride Casey's ride it just for the experience of riding a (little) train. So my suggestion is to slow the train down, if getting the Storybook Land experience is what you're after. If you're thinking ahead, I have a suggestion for the canal boats too. Eliminate the whale's head. More often than not I've seen kids on that boat, screaming and begging for their lives as they sail into the whale's mouth, with no idea of the little miniature fantasyland on the other side. It looks to be quite traumatic for some kids. |

I just came up with a few thoughts about Storybook Land. For Monstro's mouth/head in Storybook Land Canal Boats, I was going to make the inside lighter and have miniatures of Pinocchio, Geppetto, and Jiminy Cricket inside. This would make that part of the ride more fun, as well as less intimidating for the younger kids! I am also considering having miniatures of Peter Pan, Tink, Wendy, John, and Michael fly over London Park as well.
