Osborne Lights at 6pm?

For anyone that's been to MGM during Christmas - does the Osborne Lights really only open at 6pm? I figured it would open at dark (and since the time change, it gets dark soooo early!) - so we were planning on seeing them earlier than 6pm! Do they maybe let people in early?

Do they keep them on after Fantasmic?

Thanks!

There is no set time. As soon as it's dark, lights on! I had the pleasure of previewing them last night before it's open to the guests, and it's just beautiful. Feels like Christmas already!

Heres the schedule of events for the holiday season, from WDW's official website, which includes Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and the Osborne Lights:

Hope this helps!

also keep in mind it gets dark later down here. I don't remember the astrological reason for that, but there is some difference. I also saw the lights on last week although it was not the full 100% of them it looked absolutely awesome.

Anyway, it's great that the Osborne Lights are back up again after their absence last year, due to the construction of the new motor stunt show arena. I have several videos with the Osborne Lights, and they are just AMAZING! Love to see these at WDW sometime!

Re: Osborne Lights at 6pm?

I was there last week just before 6 and they were open and it was near dark. It was dark enough to see them and be pretty.

Re: Osborne Lights at 6pm?

This is something that I am really looking forward to seeing on our trip. I was curious about the times as well. After hearing that they were not around last year I am thrilled that I chose this Christmas to go to Disney.

Re: Osborne Lights at 6pm?

I can explain the astology part for those who are interested.

While the northern areas of the US get extreme long days in the summer (between the equinoxes), the southern areas don't see that dramatic a change. This is because during the summer, the closer to the poles you get, the more directly you are facing the sun.

On the day of the equinoxes (first day of Spring and first day of Autumn), everyone gets exactly the same length of day, the same as the equator. At the equator, all year long, each day gets 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night all year long. The further you move away from the equator, the more dramatic the difference is between length of day and night with the extremes being at the Winter and Summer Solstaces.

So, around this time of year, the Florida sunset is about 75 minutes later than New England.

To calculate sunrise and sunset times for a given location, you can look here: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneYear.html
