Icon5 Early Entry Days - Avoid them or not???

My family and I will be going to WDW next week!!! From everything I have read, it is supposed to be really crowded. I have read in the "Unoffical Guide to WDW" that you should avoid the parks that have Early Entry because they are the most crowded. On the other hand, it states to take advantage of early entry for the popular rides before the park fills up.

What do you guys & gals think? Should we hit the EE park and then switch to another? Or just avoid the EE parks altogether?

Re: Early Entry Days - Avoid them or not???

We go to the EE parks for about 2 or 3 hours. We go to the best rides we can while the lines are short, then we go to another park. I have heard that it does get a bit crowded, but have never found out for sure. I bet turkey day there will be a blast, hope you have fun :)

Yes, I would avoid them TG week! They work very during off time, but are crazy in busy times!

Re: Early Entry Days - Avoid them or not???

We always go to WDW in the middle of the summer, it's crowded but it can be done. We try to hit early entry and do the more popular rides then leave in the early afternoon and hit a different park after a break. We haven't noticed a huge difference in crowd levels in Early Entry days and non-Early Entry days. I think it is a good perk for WDW resort guests.

Have fun next week!!

I would recomend a Park Hop strategy. Go to the EE, and do the EE park until it gets unbearably crowded. Once it reaches the point where the park is overly crowded move out to your second choice park.

I agree with the others here. What we do is the EE park until about 11:00, then we eat lunch and leave. We usually take a break at the resort for a swim/rest and then head out to a different park for late afternoon/evening. This strategy has worked well for us, and we usually visit in the crowded summer time.

Re: Early Entry Days - Avoid them or not???

I agree and disagree.........during thanksgiving week.....the parks are going to be crowded no matter what...i'd skip the EMH.....BUT during non thanksgiving weeks...I's go to the EMH stay for two hours or so and then head over to another park..

Re: Early Entry Days - Avoid them or not???

What we did on our vacation last month was hit the early entry park and stay until around 10 or so and then do breakfast. We got a lot done that way, including 3 consecutive rides on Mission Space within about 45 minutes. Here's another tip. Schedule a PS for an in park restaurant (Crystal Palace, CRT, Donald's Breakfastosaurus) as early as possible on early opening days. Of course once you finish eating, you're in the park early, even if you aren't staying at one of the Disney resorts.

Isn't that awesome!! We entered Epcot late on our last trip, and I consider between 9 and 10 to be late. M:S had just opened, and it was only a 5 minute wait. We rode again, and it had gone to a 10 minute wait. It was great!!

Re: Early Entry Days - Avoid them or not???

I usually accomplish the same feat with RnRCoaster, though sometimes the third ride is a Fast Pass.

I hope to do that this year. I have never been able to make it to MGM first thing in the morning so.... Last year everytime I went to go on RnR it was a 45 minute wait. I said I'll take a FP please, and came back 1.5 hours later and walked right on.

Re: Early Entry Days - Avoid them or not???

Speaking of early entry. Transportation from Disney MGM is spotty on Saturday mornings if you are trying to get back to a resort before 10 AM. The buses don't run set routes, they're dispatched dynamically by Disney Transport. and as a result, you will wait for upwards of a half hour for a bus even though it seems that dozens of buses are available, and you can get stuck if you need to make a PS or other obligation that is time sensitive. Disney's logic is that people want to get to the park, who could possibly want to leave so soon?

Re: Early Entry Days - Avoid them or not???

Thanks Soundgod fot that tip. That is definetly good to know, because typically you would only allow 30 minutes (45 max) to go from park to resort.

Re: Early Entry Days - Avoid them or not???

OK I got thinking today, and remembered that I choose all EE days. I have made all my PS's around the parks I choose. The problem is that I recently realized that I have booked President's Day Week. (UUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!) I am worried that we will be burning the candle on both ends, and not get up and head for the parks. Do you think it was a mistake to do EE parks?
