Getting a private boat for Illuminations
On our last trip (2 weeks ago) we saw private boats come right under the bridge when illuminations was about to begin. Does anyone have any information on where to reserve these boats, costs, etc. Has anyone ever done this before? It looked so fun and really cool that you have your own private spot to watch the show. We saw a man propose to his fiance. I want the info just in case my DBF needs any hints
Enjoy your Thanksgiving Everyone!! ![]()

Re: Getting a private boat for Illuminations
These book out really really really fast....really.
There are only four boats and they typically sell out at minutes past the opening bell (I think it was 7am) My recommendation, and this is what we did, do not wait to book it for the last night of your trip, as this will limit your chance to that one phone call. We tried for 2 mornings, and finally got a boat- on the third day. We loved it and I highly reccommend the trip for the money!! DEN

Re: Getting a private boat for Illuminations
We did Grand Plan, which is now Dream Maker Platinum, and the Illuminations Cruise is included in that package. Another thought is to try going through your resort concierrge if you are at one of the deluxe resorts. I know these tips can be pricey, but if your heart is set on it, money might become little object. There's also the Breathless out of the Yacht Club, but again, that is a more expensive option. Yes, also be as flexible in your night as you can. I pretty sure there's a total of six boats, but one is reserved for Platinum Plan guests. There's room for three on each side of the pilings of the bridge. Failing all of that, grab a spot on the bridge above the boats and you'll have the same, and maybe better view than if you were in the boat.

Quote:
If you try to get ressies, know your prompts on the phone, because like we all said, you need to call asap, even try before it opens - like one or two minutes. You will know if there open or not, and keep trying. One year we actualy made two ressies, before we got our desired day, and then quicky made available the other two. Which is another way to approach getting aboard, try going directly to the landing and get on the 24 hour waiting list, which, if the reserved party does not show, you can hopefully luck out. DEN

Re: Getting a private boat for Illuminations
Just use the same strategy as in securing a CRT reservation: Set your alarm and start dialing at 2 to 3 minutes before 7 am. And again, start your calling for the first day and then the 2nd day if unsucessful, etc as the others have said.
And check to be sure you're calling at the 90 day mark exactly!!

Re: Getting a private boat for Illuminations
We have been lucky enough to book an IllumiNations cruise for our last two trips. It is a wonderful way to watch the show and not have to fight the large summer crowds. The whole cruise lasts about an hour and is so relaxing, I think it is worth the $120+tip. We plan to try and book another cruise for our trip this summer, I hope we can book it.
