Cool weather in the parks
Back in 1980, dad took us to Disney for Feruary vacation and it was freezing. Literally. It was funny because it was actually 20-30 colder in Orlando than it was back home in Boston.
Anyway, it's beginning to look like that there's a cool weather pattern beginning in Florida starting next week, so it's unlikely that we'll be doing anything swim related. I only have vague memories of our 1980 trip. We only spent 2 days at the Magic Kingdom. We also did Sea World and drove out to Winter Haven to see the Red Sox in training camp (before they moved to Ft. Meyers.) What's Disney like today when it's cool? Do the locals stay away? (I hope so. I remember Dad and I laughing with each other when it was 65 degrees and people were all bundled up while we were hanging out in shorts and short sleeve shirts.)In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of Disney when it's cool?

Re: Cool weather in the parks
We were there over the weekend. The weather got cool, Friday night was nippy, I just had a long sleeve Jean shirt over my t shirt and was comfortable (until the boat ride back to resort) Lots of people with heavy jackets, gloves, & hats on. Sat. was overcast so the coolness remained. Cool in the evening but not bad. We enjoyed the fire at the WL.

Cold?
Define cold. To me, in December, anything above 50 is warm, above 60 is balmy and above 70 is HOT. ![]()

Re: Cool weather in the parks
Yeah, Florida weather is so unpredictable. This morning, when I was taking my son to school at 7:45 it was 57. This afternoon, I had to kick on the air - it was in the mid 80s.
I can't even keep up, so I really don't know how help anyone else do it! I think it's NICE weather in Dec. It's not usually really REALLY cold...nipply...but that's about it.

Re: Cool weather in the parks
Hey Jeff, the weather ain't bad either with cool breezes on warm summer days combined with sundresses...
As far as reasons to like the winter... 1.) Christmas 2.) Snowmen 3.) Catching snowflakes on you're tongue 4.) Days off b/c of snowstorms 5.) Snuggling 6.) Hot chocolate 7.) Hot soup 8.) Snow covered branches 9.) The way snow absorbs sound, especially at night 10.) Makes you really appreciate the spring ![]() To me, give me 20 degrees and heavy snow over 98 degrees with 98 percent humity any day of the week!

Re: Cool weather in the parks
I am just the opposite, Matt. I'd rather have 98F and 98% humidity than a 40F day anytime.
I'm miserable all winter. Some of my aunts suffer from seasonal depression. I'm not that bad, but I loathe short, gloomy, cold days.

Re: Cool weather in the parks
We were there in Dec.1995 at christmas time. It was 26 degrees. Luckily , we had brought our winter coats with us. I must have had 30 people ask me where I bought the baby's snowsuit. There were people in shorts and sweatshirts freezing their you know what off. They were selling little knit caps in the giftshops with mickey on them for $20 each and sold hundreds of them within minutes. Now, for FL, that was COLD. Being mountain people from PA, it didn't phase us too much. I think it was -15 when we left PA that year,so 26 seemed warmer.
