I finally saw a couple good night kisses at the end of Dec 07 and beginning Jan 08.
I've also seen it from my room in the Contemporary tower and also from the upper floors of the WL.
That and they leave the icicle lights on during Christmas well into the night.

I didn't see this last time I was in WDW (a year ago), but just watching that video on youtube...that made me tear up a bit and makes me want to be in DL/WDW even more now!

Thank so much for starting this Thread. I never worried much about seeing the Park opening before but now it is a must!

It just isn't a visit to MK without the opening ceremony. Even without the kids, we find the time to be there.

I read that there is a schedule for Rope Drops, does anyone know where I can get it?

Am I reading this correct, They do a rope drop every morning ... don't they ?
At least that's what I thought. We always get a lil' song and dance then we meet the family to open the park. I've taken pics of it and will post them later if this is the same "Rope Drop" we are posting on?

I am glad someone dug up this old thread -- because I had almost forgotten that my kids were chosen to open the park one day, when they were little. It' was adorable -- they got to stand up with the characters and wave Tinkerbell wands while they said their magic words to open the park. Afterward, they received candy and fancy certificates, stickers and solo photo ops with the characters (this was before the days of character sightings everywhere)...
I just went to my WDW mementos stash and looked at all the loot from that day. NICE!

I am not sure if it is every morning with all teh cut backs, but if someone knows different, possibly from a recent trip can you fill us in?

I remember seeing the show once but not sure if it was at 8 or 9.
This is where i'm confused. I read somewhere, maybe another board, that they do the show every day, even on early EMH. Do they? If they do then only in park guest see it? Seems it would have to be that way since you can't really go back and do an opening welcome once you're already open, eh?

This is my kids' dream - to get to open the Magic Kingdom! Any tips on where to be and when for your kid to get selected?

We were standing on the far right side, in line for the turnstiles to open. A CM came over and asked our permission to invite the kids to open the park. We said sure, and they bent way down and asked DS and DD if they'd liek to have a special responsibility. It was really cute. They wore their special buttons all day long.
