Artist Point or California Grill

Situation: DH and I have one night out (alone) during our trip

Where should we go??? The plan is to dine and enjoy the resort, then proceed to Downtown Disney for the rest of evening. We are looking for something unique, charming and romantic.

Trish, I personally think Artist's Point is the hidden gem of WDW. I honestly love going there. They have wonderful food, great service and the best deserts around. Definitely a great option for a romantic night out.

California Grill is nice as well, but it is more expensive and always really really crowded. The main plus with the CG is the view, but you don't have to eat there to enjoy it. You can just take the elevators up to the top floor and walk out onto the catwalks. Great views of the Magic Kingdom.

Another option would be Jiko. The food is a little different, but wonderful all the same. That is usually where Minnie and I go now for our one romantic evening away from the kids. The nice thing about Jiko is that after dinner, you can walk around the savannahs (around, not in :p ) and the pool area. It is a great place to hang out for a little while before heading to Downtown Disney.

Artist Point is my personal favorite but, I keep reading that CG has the best food (chefs?) at WDW. Can anyone confirm this?

Of course, it is subjective. I think the food there is ok, but it is done California style, very small helpings, emphasis on display. Don't get me wrong, the food is wonderful. The chef who used to run CG is now at Jiko, and the chef from the Flying Fish moved over to CG. Robert Curry, former chef at Domaine Chandon's winery restaurant in Napa Valley is now the chef at Flying Fish.

I don't think it matters where you go, the food is going to be great. I have never had a bad meal at Artist's Point, CG, Flying Fish or Jiko. They have been wonderful everytime.

I really enjoyed the california grill. But if price isn't an issue I'd suggest Victoria and Alberts! Its fantastic food and a great, romantic setting.
