Star Wars Weekend?

Talking to jedijson reminded me...when are the exact dates of Star Wars weekend this year? I know DH wanted to be there during that time, and I completely forgot up until now. That would definitely help me finalize our dates!

Re: Star Wars Weekend?

I don't think that the dates have been announced yet. But in previous years it has been from mid-May through mid-June. I would guess that the actual dates will be announced sometime soon.

Re: Star Wars Weekend?

Okay thanks! We will probably be there from about the 10th thru the 21st, so we shouldn't miss it.

Re: Star Wars Weekend?

Kim, we were there last May and it was fun. They had Stormtroopers stationed on top of the MGM turnstiles when you enter the park. Our DS was asked to trade pins with a little creature, can't remember what they are called. You can also get your picture taken with Jedi Mickey, that was so cool. It seemed they had more of the characters from the movies towards the back of the park the day we were there.

Last year, it started 5/16 so we should hit it just right again this year.

Hmm.... Pin Trading. Sounds like something a Jawa would do. Was he short, wearing a brown robe, and glowing eyes?

Yeh, he had the brown robe but a black cloth was covering his face. It was so cool. I asked him/her if they were an ewok and they started waving their hands and shaking their head no. It was pretty funny.

My DS was just so amazed by the entire encounter. We were walking out from taking pictures with Jedi Mickey and the Jawa saw his lanyard and poked at him. He was startled at first. Jawa made hand motions requesting to trade pins and took out an old tattered bundle. He unrolled it to reveal pins. They traded and off we went, only to be followed by a Stormtrooper.

That would be so awesome! And then to ask him if he was an Ewok! ROFLMBO! It's OK. For future reference, if you need to know, an Ewok is a living teddy bear. About the same size as a Jawa, but cute and cuddly. Wish I could do that. Jawas are pretty cool.

My DH said the same thing about the Ewok, a teddy bear. I felt pretty "Dopey" after that. You'd think I would have known what it was after collecting the trading cards as a kid, dah.

It's OK. I know far too many people that would have though the Jawa was Darth Vader or something along those lines. Not a big eal.

I traded the cards as a kid, too! I've got mine stashed somewhere, but I have no idea where...

My Star Wars freak of a DS got a set for Christmas.
He also got the new XBox Sith Lords Game.
We are going to try to make a Star Wars Weekend - he would love it!

Re: Star Wars Weekend?

Ooooh! You have GOT to tell me how the Sith Lords game is. I've considered saving my money and buying an XBox just to buy and play that game. Is it worth it?

Sounds like your DS is an awesome kid!

Does anyone know if Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) still shows up?

Re: Star Wars Weekend?

He shows up EVERYWHERE it seems like. I've been to quite a few Star Wars conventions, and he's always there. The typical three that you'll always see are him, Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Warwick Davis (Wicket the Ewok, among others).
