Film News

OK WDWMAGIC is reporting that WDW has begun offering Digital Film processing. I did not use the word developing for a reason, according to the news it will be offering a service where you can pop the your digital card into one of the new machines at the 4 theme parks film centers(and at the resorts within the comming months) and the ictures get put on a photo CD.

Bad news for the people that still use 35mm. WDW has discontinued photo processing at all 4 of its theme parks due to the increase in Digital photography.

Re: Film News

I like the new digital stuff they're doing, but what about the people who don't have a digital camera? I mean granted, at some point, everyone probably will... but until then it's kinda sad for them. I guess they could always just bring extra film though... ok I'm answering my own questions, I'm just gonna stop typing, lol.

Re: Film News

That's really cool! I am still bringing a 35mm point-and-shoot, but DH is bringing his digital camera and I bet he will like that feature. If we brought the laptop, we could post pics on DC during our trip, too...hmmm...

Re: Film News

I can't imagine that there were very many people who used the film processing at WDW in the first place. I couldn't imagine how much it would cost. I was an over taker on the pictures anyway. I would bring at least 15 rolls of film every trip and darn near use every roll during a 1 week trip. Thank goodness for digital!!!!

You're not alone! I would wait to get my film processed until I got home and could do it at Wal-Mart for cheap...but even then, I'd have to leave close to $100 at home just to pay for processing because I'd take so many darn pictures! I'm going to TRY to let DH take most of the pics with his digital this time, but I'm still very picture-happy...

My digital camera has a mini-CD, not a card. I wonder if they can do anything with that. I'll wait until I get home anyway, then I save them to my computer, re-size them, burn them to regular CD, and take it to Wal-mart. Cheaper, fast, and we get to re-live the vacation all over again!

When we went with my mom in 2003 she had some pictures developed on site (don't ask me why...I have NO idea!) and I don't remember how much it cost, but it was PRICEY!

Personally (I'm digital) I just take my laptop and empty my memory cards each evening (or more often, if necessary) to it's hard drive and then burn them all to CDs when I get home.

(BTW...our hotel is reserved for our May trip (Pop Century)!!! Thanks, Mickey!!)

Re: Film News

Ok, I still have film from my Aug. trip that I haven't gotten developed. I'm so-o bad. Sometimes I find rolls of film and get them developed not having any idea what is even on them! It always is agreat surprixe when I get them back and say "Oh, I remember that." I'm bad.

I'm bad about that too. I love using my 35mm for more "artsy" purposes (whereas my digital is more candids, walk around town, scrapbook stuff). You wouldn't believe how many undeveloped canisters of film we found strewn around our apartment after hurricane Ivan. I still haven't gotten around to developing most of them, but sheesh...

i think it is so cool that they are doing the digital CD at WDW. I myself like to take pictures with my 35mm and devlop them when we get home.

Re: Film News

I love those machines .. glad WDW is going to supply them. My digital video camera also takes digital stills that go to a memory card, so I would be able to empty a card when we go again and take even more then 400 pictures.. can you have toooo many pictures from WDW?
