20,000 Leagues of Wonder!

Does anyone know what they are going to build where 20,000 leagues was at wdw...I heard a rumor they were going to make the 100 acre wood??? Anyone know better or differently?

I have a strong feeling they won't...they have drained all the water out of the lagoon and either sold or auctioned off the subs...so most likely...never again!

I had heard that they were going to build a villian-themed roller coaster type ride in that spot. I think a WDW bus driver told me that.

20,000 leagues was closed for repairs in 1994. In 1996 they announced it would never be reopened. Expect the same for river country.

The lagoon has already been filled and construction has begun on a replacement. possibly the 100 acre wood meet-and-greet. The villians themed roller coaster rumor seems to be dead for the moment. From what I've heard this area could be used to build 2 more dark rides in the future. Nothing has been announced for that area, but as I said, possibly the 100 arce wood meet-and-greet. It might open as early as May 5, 2005.

I have read that an updated 20,000 leagues is all ready for construction at the Disneyland Resort. Apparently with some really cool new Finding Nemo stuff. Just waiting on approval from higher up. From what I hear, it is 50/50 whether it will get done or not.

I would expect it to be just as coasterman said, something un-permanent in time for the big party.

That would be the coolest thing...EVER! I miss 20,000 Leagues so badly--it was my favorite as a kid--and I would do anything to have it back! With Finding Nemo stuff, that would just be even cooler!

Wish I was the "higher up"...so I could just give it my stamp of approval and get it done!

I actually bid on one of the port hole windows on ebay, but it very quickly went past my humble budget!

I got to ride it only once, the very first trip I made to WDW. I told my DD about it but by the time we went back it was gone already! I really do hope they rehab to one at DL, it would give me an incentive to take the family there.

Yes, the lagoon is totally filled. I have a feeling that the charcater greeting area is the most probable idea for the short-term. In the long term a ride might be put there.
