Our April trip plans, how do they look?

Hi all. I just wanted to do a run down of our April trip to see how it looks to all you Disney experts out there.

DAY 1 Friday April 15th
Landing at Orlando airport at 12:45. Meeting our driver from Quicksilvers (still have to set this up) We're planning on doing the grocery stop for some munches. Hoping to be at our resort (Pop Century) and in our room by 3:00 p.m. I'm not sure how far the airport is from Disney so not sure if this is enough time. After checking in and dropping off bags we hope to be at Disney Quest by 4 p.m. Is this possible or am I pushing it time wise?
We're gonna spend the rest of the day here. Probably grab some food from the food court. Heading back to the resort around 11 or 12. Do the busses run that late? If not it will have to be earlier.

DAY 2 Saturday April 16th Magic Kingdom Day!
We're going to have breakfast in the room. We would like to start the day by watching the rope dropping ceremony. Once we get into the park we don't have to much of a plan. There are a few things that we for sure want to see,do and ride. For the most part tho we're just gonna play it by ear and work ourselves around the park the best we can. I want this day to be both fun and magicial.
For lunch I'm thinking about doing a seat down restaurant. I'd love to do CRT but there aren't any princesses there at lunch are there? This is gonna be a surprise for my DD's sweet 16th bday. She's a big pooh fan so maybe something with Pooh would work great too. Any suggestions?
After lunch it's back out into the park for more magic. We'll probably try to see more of the park and hit our favorite rides again.
Dinner will be at a service counter place. Any suggestions for this one?
Then hopefully the Spectro Magic parade will be going on this night (this is why I picked a Saturday for MK) We'd like to finish our magicial day with a magicial night by watching Wishes and the kiss good night. The perfect end to a perfect magicial day.

DAY 3 Sunday April 17th Typhoon Lagoon Day.
This is gonna be our wet, slippery, fun, water park day.
We'll start the day off with breakfast in the room. Then heading out early to make sure we get some chairs.(I hear it's a big problem getting chairs if you get there late) The big things we want to do here are:
the new water coaster (if it's open when we're there), the Shark Reef (is there anything seperating you from them?) Castaway Creek, of course the kids want to hit everything. lol
Lunch will probably be at Typhoon Tilly's Snack Shack. After lunch we'll just rest a bit and then hit the waters again.
We'll probably spend a good part of the day here, as we all just love water parks.
When we leave here the kids (including DH & I) would like to rent some run a bouts. After this our plan is to do a little shopping and finish the day off with some sandwiches from Earl of Sandwich. (heard they are great)
Then headed back to the room to pack, do some laundry (what time are they open till and how much do the machines cost?) and getting ready for our 4 day cruise, which starts on Monday.

How does this plan look and sound to everyone? Am I missing anything? Any suggestions on must see's and do's or don't at any of these places?

Re: Our April trip plans, how do they look?

I think you are pushing your first day a tad. You will pressed for time if you only allow yourself one hour to check in, get your room and head to disney quest. I believe the buses run until PI closes...make sure you ask so you are not left behind.

Make a PS for the Crystal Palace to have a meal with Pooh and friends for your DD's 16th surprise. It's in the magic kingdom.
Must do's for me at the Magic Kingdom:
Peter Pan
Phillarmagic
Pooh
Buzz
Splash Mountain
Anything else is great, but not a must to me

No suggestions for TL...I have yet to go there.

Re: Our April trip plans, how do they look?

Hi Tinkerbell,
We won't be able to do Epcot this time around. The kids wanted to spend a day at DQ and one of the water parks. I wanted to spend a day at MK. We only have 3 days this time so we don't get to go. I think I'm gonna regret the only 3 day thing tho. I've never been to Epcot and would love to go. And I just love flowers and gardens so that would be something awesome to see.
HMMMM the above plans aren't etched in stone so maybe I can see about changing either DQ or TL.
This is our last big family trip before my son is old enough to be on his own so I'm kinda just letting them plan and do whatever they want. So if they say they'd rather DQ & TL then no Epcot for me this trip.

Do your kids know about Epcot and MGM. Maybe you could split one of the non MK days to park hop?

Like Dana said, try Crystal Palace. I had my sweet 16 there too and it's all Pooh characters. Really cute!

I think they all serve pretty much the same food, but Pecos Bill's in Frontierland is my favorite. Don't know why... maybe the atmosphere. Never really thought about it, I just love it! :)

HI royorb1....yep they know about both places, but they choose DQ &TL. We are only buying a 1 day ticket with the magic plus pack which gives us the 2 other visits. So we're not going to have park hopper passes and I'm not sure as it would be worth the $37.28 to do that. They really wanted to do these parks so I think that's what we're gonna do this time...
I'm definately gonna spend more time at Disney next trip and hopefully get to see all the parks.

Thanks Dana for that info...I'll definately kick the time back for going to DQ. I wasn't sure time wise if it was pushing it or not....so thanks for that info..
Also thanks for the advice on Crystals Palace, my DD is going to love it I think and she'll be soooo surprised.

Thanks to everyone for all the great info.

Re: Our April trip plans, how do they look?

OK about Day 1: I think it is very reasonable to think you could be at DisneyQuest by 4, it actually may be overly conservatve. If you are just checking in, and dropping your bags you should be there no later than 3. If you stop and check out your resort and room then it may be closer to 4. Busses run pretty late into the night from DTD, but ask your bus driver when you are going about how late he/she thinks the busses will be running. If they don't know they can radio and find out.

Day 2: I would recomend Crystal Palace for your sit-down. I believe it is all Pooh characters there. I would definetly make a PS for any sit-downs you want to do. As far as Counter-service Pecos Bills is a good one in MK. Has a GREAT fixin's bar.

Day 3: OK the new water slide will not be open by the time that you are there. I think they will be very lucky to have it open by July/August. It is a huge new area that they have to build for that. About renting the MouseBoats, I would take the bus over to the Cntemporary and rent them from there. I have heard that it is one of the best places to rent them from simply because you have the entire Lagoon.

Yes, definately kick that back to about 5ish. That way you aren't rushing to get there. If you are planning on being at PC at 3pm, you are pushing it with a 4pm DQ time. You should be able to do it before 5pm, but give yourself that time so you aren't rushed...who wants to rush on vacation? CP is great..your DD is going to love it! Make sure to tell them at WDW Dine that it's your DD's sweet sixteen and remind them again when you check in..you may be pleasantly surprised with some extra attention. DEfinately get her the birthday button at the MK too.

Re: Our April trip plans, how do they look?

i wish i could be of service about the time you head to DQ but ive never taken Quicksilver or anything like that..i just know if you arrive at 3 check in this process can take anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour...espically at 3 o'clock because thats when check-in starts it will take awhile....and it will take a good 30 mins on the bus to get to DTD estimated....i wouldnt rush--take your time and enjoy it--dont press yourself to meet a time deadline...just go with the flow :) because youll get there before you know it!
Ditto on the Crystal Palace for DD's B-day!! Ive never been but it does have Pooh (and i think its the only place inside the parks that does if im not mistaken)
as for your day at MK--enjoy it and stay from start to close :)

What if on your TL day, you hit the water park at opening time, and then take off in the early afternoon? That will give you 5 or 6 hours of water fun, and by then you'll probably we water-logged anyway. Go back to your room, change, and the hit Epcot for the rest of the day?

I could never go to WDW without Epcot. It's wonderful!
