New MYW Ticket Question

I'm thinking of exchanging my old 5-day Park Hoppers for the new MYW 10-day tickets with the Park Hopper and No Expiration options.

Here are my questions:
1. Is this a smart thing to do? (Looks like we could save a lot of $ - we are 2 adults and 2 children, just want to make sure I'm not missing something)

2. Where should I do this? Could they help me at the Disney Store? Or would I be better off contacting Disney directly?

We would be using 5 days in Feb. and save the rest for another trip (not for at least another year).

Thanks!

Re: New MYW Ticket Question

I think the only place you will be able to exchange you old tickets will be guest services at WDW, The Disney Store won't be able to do it. Is is smart? It will lower the price of your 10 day passes, that helps. How old are the 5 day hoppers?

Re: New MYW Ticket Question

im not sure about the pricing but i do know that if you changed them into 10 days MYW you would have to add the park hopper option (if you wanted it) and the no expiration option if your not using them within the next 14 days of your first visitand i dont think the disneystore sells tickets anymore if im not mistaken your best bet would be to call disney directly

Re: New MYW Ticket Question

The old hoppers are just a few months old, bought them for the trip in Feb. before they announced the new MYW tix.

Even adding the PH and No Exp. options would still save us $ in the long run. Guess I'm just trying to justify spending the extra $$ now...

DH will not be happy

Re: New MYW Ticket Question

If they are new hoppers then I would do it. You will save money in the long run. We have old tickets left that we plan on using a coulpe of days of on our next trip. The tickets are 13 years old, I think we are money ahead to just use the days and not trade in for credit toward a newer ticket. Besides we need 13 days and the longest we can buy is 10, add a 2-3 day ticket costs too much compared to the cost of a 10 day ticket.

Re: New MYW Ticket Question

I am highly confused. How are you exchanging 5 Day PH's for 10 day MYW's?

I believe the only place to exchange these is at the Guest Relations booth outside of each Disney park. Disney Store will not do it, and Resort desks may just not want to deal with it. A lot of times if it is something sticky they refer you to Guest Relations at the parks simply because that is what they deal with all day.

I was assuming this could be done at the resort, but you are probably right and we will have to go to Guest Relations. I read that you can exchange old tix for new ones, but they will not refund any $, just apply the amount actually paid for the old tix to the cost of new MYW tix. Another reason to go for the 10-day MYW...

DisneyTeacher - if you are going for 13 days I am VERY jealous!!

We are going for 2 weeks. I am really excited about finally being able to spend that much time at WDW. We are going with my inlaws for the first week and staying at WL. The second week we are meeting up with some friends and staying in a 2 bedroom at BCV.

We are doing some serious planning this winter--I have so many days to fill up!! My goal is to do some things we don't have time for in a shorter trip, like the pirate cruise for my DS, the family magic tour, and a Segway tour for the guys in the group.

Re: New MYW Ticket Question

Okay, if I understand, you CAN exchange old passses for NEW without receiving money back but just credit for the new but it can only be done on DisneyWorld property? I had bought some 5 day park hoppers last year for our February trip and now have rebooked at a signifigant discount throught the MMW program and was trying to sell my old tickets on ebay. I would trade them in for credit on our new MMW trip instead if I could figure out how to do it. Argh! HELP!

I am not sure about that one. I believe that what you can do is exchange your Park Hopper's for MYW's. They can NOT be used as a form of credit for your vacation. Sorry.

BTW: In case you didn't know it, selling your PH tickets on eBay is illegal. Disney isn't going to come after your for it, but it is illegal. Your tickets are good forever so why not just hang on to them? As I put it on another thread you could show up in the year 2025, and you could still get admission to MK, Epcot, MGM, and AK using those PH's.

Re: New MYW Ticket Question

Thanks disneyguy for reiterating ticket rules, Disney has always had the rule that tickets are "non-refundable and non-transferable". Please don't let your friends have your park hoppers or sell/buy them off of EBay. Off my soap box, your 5 Day PH can be exchanged anywhere that WDW tickets are sold on property (all Front Desks, Guest Relations, and Vacation Planning Windows). It will take the value available on your ticket and apply that toward the value of your new ticket, it also transfers all usage to the new ticket. Also just so you know, all MYW tickets for guests 10 and up will be using Disney's Ticket Tag system. It will take unique measurements of finger size for your Middle and Index finger and store them in the system, this ensures that all tickets are now non-transferable. Have Fun!

Re: New MYW Ticket Question

Thanks disneyboy! Glad to know I should be able to handle everything at the front desk. I'll report back after our trip if there are any problems/issues...

Re: New MYW Ticket Question

Just a quick update...Confusion still abouds with the CM's at the reservation center.

I called last week to ask about exchanging the old PH's for new MYW tickets and was told that could not be done because I did not have a package. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that if I had a question SHE would ask the supervisor for me. Very frustrating, so I let it go.

Today I called back and got a TERRIFIC CM who told me what I knew was true - YES, I can apply the cost of my old PH's to the new tickets. And I can do that at the front desk of my resort.

So the moral is don't give up, call back until you get someone who is knowlegeable!!
