Birthdays

Hi what are some exciting things to do to celebrate someone's birthday while at WDW? I will be turning 30 during our vacation in May 2005. Would love to hear some suggestions. Thanks

Re: Birthdays

Wishes/Illuminations cruise
A special dinner that you wouldn't normally do while at WDW
Wear the birthday buttons and get special CM attention
Tell each place you make a PS at that it's your birthday and sometimes you get a cupcake and a birthday song.

Re: Birthdays

Oh, what fun!

DS celebrated his 4th birthday at MK. Whatever park you go to, go to Guest Services, and they'll give you a big button that says "Today's My Birthday." At MK's City Hall the CM also picked up the phone and had DS listen to a pre-recorded birthday message from Goofy.

During the day, DS button was noticed by CM and characters everywhere. I was amazed how many parade characters noticed the button and wished him a happy birthday (We were kind of far back, and I was holding him up.) Cruella DeVille gave him the warmest "happy birthday."

At one point a CM gave DS a family FastPass to Buzz' Spin.

At Chef Mickey's they brought out a cupcake with a candle in it.

I spoke to another guest who felt birthday guests should get FP all day long and other goodies. But I pointed out that with such a policy people would be lying about their birthday left and right.

Have a great birthday!

Re: Birthdays

My mom celebrated her 62nd at WDW last October and we had lots of fun! Every day, she wore all four Happy Birthday buttons from all four parks (MK and MGM are the same, but she didn't care), we had the lovely waiters from the Rose and Crown Restaurant sing Happy Birthday and bang on pots and pans (!), I booked an Illuminations cruise and our captain played her his special birthday song, she got a free birthday sundae at Sci-Fi Dine-in and was sung to by the whole restaurant, she got very special attention from the talking trash can in Tomorrowland :), and was wished Happy Birthday by every single CM we saw!!

Enjoy!! I especially recommend a fireworks cruise, though. It was the highlight of the trip.

Re: Birthdays

I was there for my 16th bday and didnt know about telling the cm it was my bday so I didnt get any special attention but thats ok. My family was going to take me this summer for my 21st bday but my dad and I had a chance to go to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and hike for 10 days and I dont know if any of you are involved in Boy Scouts or not but thats another amazing experience that we just couldnt pass up. So unfortunately I wont be able to spend another bday in WDW.

Re: Birthdays

I spent my 30 th birthday there last year !!! It was so much fun. Honestly you should let every CM you talk to know it's birthday.Starting from when you make the reservation. You never know what could be waiting for you in your room.

Re: Birthdays

yes, CM's are great with birthdays!! For my bday, I got snuck to the front of the line in the Haunted Mansion. For my brother's, he got a fastpass to Thunder Mtn. I think Country Bears is my favorite place to say it's your bday... everybody "yeehaw"s for you, lol!

Re: Birthdays

Oh, and don't forget to tell the CM when you check into your resort (if you're staying at a Disney resort) -- chances are your favorite character will know in no time and will be sending you a lovely card!
