Icon6 What to pack in suprise backpacks for kids?

Starting to put together suprise backpacks for my kids, DD 5 1/2 & DS 2 1/2, for the airplane. So far I have printed coloring pages from the computer of all sorts of disney characters, new crayons, bubbles, candy from the disney store. What else should I put in them? Any help would be greatly appreciated Also, I bought each of them a small mickey & minnie stuffed animal, should I put them in or leave them on the beds @ CSR when we come back from a park one day & say their from mickey & minnie?

Re: What to pack in suprise backpacks for kids?

Ok I found it!!!! Here was my list!!

A small backpack for each(with their fav. character on the front)
Disney flashlights(Walmart)
A necklace with their fav character(Ebay)
little candy tins (Disney store)
Magic washclothes(Disney store)
Disney sunglasses(still looking for my son's pair)
Disney chapstick(Walmart)
Disney Pens
Guest of Honor badges(Gifts of a lifetime)
Disney light chasers(Disney Store)
Disney Toothbrushes and toothpaste(Walmart)
Disney notebooks(Walmart)
Disney markers(Walmart)
Disney fun fruits and cookies(grocery store)
Mickey Mouse rain ponchos(garage sale)
$10 in Disney dollars each
A Personalized autograph book- I am making each one of them their own autograph photo album for the trip with their fav character on the front. It reads for example: Emily's Surprise WDW trip 2003. Then I am going to give stickers for each character so after they sign a page we can put a sticker on that page of the character, mainly so my 4 year old will know whose signature it is. I figure we can do that at night or on the plane on the way home. I making the books with scrapbooking stuff!! Again this will keep me busy until the big day!!!

Oh yeah, we also bought matching disney t-shirts from disney store.com on clearance for ALL of us!!

I am hoping this will curb their appetite a little for souviniers(sp?)

This was so fun to do and since the trip was a suprise all the Disney stuff made it so fun!
I think we also put spray bottle fans and a few other snacks!!
Have fun!

I think you should leave the Minnie and Mickey on the bed and say they are from them!! It gives them an extra surprise!

Our biggest lifesaver was a dry erase board with markers. My 3 yr old spent hours and hours drawing. Sticker books were another big hit.

Pipe cleaners! They don't take up much space and are quiet fun. You can make all kinds of people and animals out of them.

We did that in Dec and My DS is still telling people about the Mickey and Minnie that the Mouse himself left them. I was so great to see the smiles.

I agree with Cher on the sticker books (never thought of the dry erase board that woudl have been a cool one) for my DD when she ws younger. She loved putting the stickers through out the book. she also liked the coloring books that had stickers to put on certain pages. I sell Pooh ones at my Eckerds. We also have Blue's Clues and Dora.

Re: What to pack in suprise backpacks for kids?

Just think about what they like to do at home, and pack that. Don't think about it so much as what to do on the plane as what to DO in general.

(Not so sure if bubbles are a good idea for the back packs -- they shouldn't be tempted to use them on the flight.)

It sounds like you're doing good with keeping them occupied. Also, you should pack juice boxes (possibly a cup for your son?) and snacks for the plane ride. And a blanket or pillow so they can take a nap during the flight if they get tired. There's nothing worse than having an unhappy child on a flight!

If you want to try to stave off the souvenier urge, present them with the stuffed mice a day or two into your trip.

Avon had cute Mickey throw blankets that would fold up nice and small in a back pack. Ty received one for Christmas.

I also agree about the bubbles. Maybe pack them yourself and give them when you arrive at the resort.

I LOVE the mickey idea that they were left by Mickey.

Re: What to pack in suprise backpacks for kids?

Oh I am so stealing some of these ideas Our DD is 2 and we are making our first trip to disney with her. I have a fun bag that is reserved for places like restaurants and my grandparents house and church. Basically places where she can't really be too kid-like. Anyway. I need to swap everything out because she is getting sick of it. I was planning on replacing everything for the plane ride. Here are some of her favorites:

Color wonders (either the marker or the paint - She prefers the finger paints but they can sometimes get a little messy so have papertowels. Although the good news is the mess is completely clear - still can't figure that one out)

Crayons and paper (she loves to trace hands and that easily will amuse for a LONG time)

A new book or two

Travelsize Magna doddle

Little mini cars with different characters in them ( I actually found these in the grocery store for a buck each - GREAT Bargain)

A few animal finger puppets

Single serving size bags of animal crackers

Mini boxes of raisins

Fruit snacks

Ceral and Yogurt bars

Clementines

Snack size apple sauce

Also, my friend said that Toy R Us just got all these travel size art kits. So I'm going to go and check that out tonight.

Thanks sooooooooo much for all of these wonderful ideas Don't jinx me with unhappy kids on the plane!!!!!! I'm knocking on wood I agree with the bubble thing, I was going to use them if we were standing on any lines to keep them happy. I just got back from the mall & got some clearance stuff at the Disney Store. Also The Dollar Tree has disney nightlights, just to let everyone know, Princess, Mickey, Minnie, Mickey & Minnie together & Pooh.

Re: What to pack in suprise backpacks for kids?

I am not sure if you can bring bubbles on a plane. If you are packing them in your luggage be sure to put them in a plastic bag.
Since 9-11 they are very careful about certain liquids on a plane.
Walmart has clearanced alot of toys since Christmas. Many things were $2 to $5 yesterday.
