Great CM Encounter

Hey, I was just mounting my trading pins from this month's trip, and remembered a great CM encounter that's quite unusual.

I was standing in line at Haunted Mansion, chatting with those around me and struck up a conversation with a CM from DISNEYLAND. Yep, he was vacationing on the other coast.

Anyway, after a few minutes of chit chat, he pulled out a really cool pin commemorating DL's 50th birthday.

It's a rectangular, solid gold pin (color, not metal), with Sleeping Beauty's Castle Etched into it. Walking into the castle is the shilloutte (sp?) of a man. At the bottom he reads "A Walk In Walt's Footsteps."

And he gives me the pin. I reach for my lanyard to make a trade, and he tells me he doesn't want any of my pins. He and his DW had just brought a bag full of these pins from DL, and they were passing them out to guests who chatted with them.

I just thought it was cool. I guess once a CM, always a CM!

How cool!!! I was going to share a chat with a great CM at WDW-DINE, but your interaction way tops mine. I will just say, this CM knew all about the resturaunts, and telling me how great the ones I had choosen were.

That's cool, and that it was a gift. My dh is bringing home a ton of stuff for the 50th right now, most of which are CM exclusives. I'm stashing it all away as of right now! Even this stuff is hard for the CM's to get. They announce their (limited) availability on the portal and they have to go stand in line at Company D or the Team Center, and do this on their own time - and, they purchase them - they aren't free, even the CM exclusive items. That's one of the reasons why it's so cool that this guy you met was giving them away!

Re: Great CM Encounter

That is really neat, Jeff!! What a great CM.

I occasionally added a couple of my personal pins from WDW to the trading lanyards when I was working at DLR, and boy, they were popular! Made a lot of peoples' days to find them. I wish I had a bunch I could have just given away.
