What should the next world showcase pavilion be?
Hey everybody!
After listening to everybodys opinion about what the nest wdw resort should be, i decided to see what you guys think the next EPCOT pavilion/country should be in the World Showcase. What country would you choose? What would the pavilion look like? And most importantly what ride would you have in it related to that country? If I were to pick the next World showcase country, I would have to choose....maybe, Russia or India. The russian pavillion would have the famous st.basil's cathedral as its back drop. For a ride.......i'll have to get back to you on that one! For India it could have a budha statue or something along those lines. For a ride maybe a indiana jones (disneyland style) ride centered around a hindu temple? Anyways, I wanna hear from ALL of you, what you think the next country should be!!! If this one is successful maybe a 3rd one will be made about magic kingdom?? Have a great day! Joe:)

Hi Joe: There has been talk for many years now, about the addition of a new "country" in Epcot. There have been all kinds of rumors; Africa, India, Russia etc. The problem they say has been the sponsorship---who pays for the pavilion. Most of the countries there have sponsors who help pay for the "attractions" to be there. (Just like in future world; they have sponsors.)
There is that big space waiting and I keep hoping something new will be in the works soon, but after this much time now, I am thinking it is doubtful. Smallworld ![]() |

I'm not sure but I did read somewhere an Idea for changing or say upgrading the food court at America! So it's more of a better show of the food in America! I think this is a great Idea!
Like it could have.. Philly cheesesteaks Boston- pizza Wiscon.- cheese? New Orleans- Gumbo ETC... What do you guys think! Better then just frys and burgers. Lisa:)

When we were there in July, they were in the process of developing the Africa section. One of the CM's told me they were making that the next country. I was kind of disappointed - the African section of Animal Kingdom is really cool - I was hoping for something more unique, something not yet explored in another section of Disney. I would love to see Russia or Greece or India.

Those are really good ideas guys! Maybe we should "broaden our horizons" when it comes to the american food court lisa, lol. Seeing a greek pavilion would be so cool! I love greek mythology, maybe a ride could be centered around a myth?? Keep the great ideas coming guys!!!
Joe:)

I also like Lisa's idea about the American pavilion showcasing the regional food sections of the country.
My family if of Italian heritage, but I am disappointed with Italy, and I never had a good meal or service at the restaurant. I'm probably too picky because we have wonderful cooks in our family. However, I would love for them to do something else with that country to make it more entertaining. Possibly an opera house for example. Besides that, I would like to see Russia or Greece as well. Both countries have a rich heritage with marvelous food.:)

I'm so glad to hear you also like Greece - moving it into the World Showcase and stuffing it with mythology, great pastries, and ouzo is my dream. :D We are half Greek (and half Irish - go figure) and my son was soooo disappointed Greece was not represented. I joked that it's because each country makes a decision to pay and sponsor the site, and that the Greeks were still arguing about it in the coffee houses over there...
:D :D I also think they should improve the American food! Ptouey!

I love Greek food too. Too bad we aren't in charge!
The only problem with having regional American food, is that we all have our favorite ways of cooking things. For ex. southern barbeque is different from Texas barbeque etc. Philly cheese steaks in Philly are served with American cheese but here in the DC area, we eat them with provolone or mozz. cheese. Still better than hamburgers though. Everybody eats burgers; even those travelers from Japan and such places eat hamburgers at home!!! Smallworld:laugh |

I think Egypt with Pyramids or the Sphynx would be great, a calm ride down the nile that goes a little bad.... could work
Or keep the river theme and do a south american with an amazon ride and have a rainforest or something or the sort, Scanlonsgirl --- No offense, but in wisconsin we don't just eat cheese (it is a staple, but i dont even like it that much) its more of a german fare all round, beer boiled and grilled bratwurst, sausages, with maybe some sauerkraut washed down with a glass of Miller or some other local beer (Point, Lenie's, Pabst, Old Style, City Brew, the list goes on....) and of course some cheese..... I always though NY for pizza, not boston, but that's just me... Regional food is a great idea though |

I'm with CSOM on the Egypt idea. Maybe Nepal, beautiful people, beautiful land. Don't know about the food though.

I'd like a South Pacific pavillion with Tahitian tikis and the heads from Easter Island. Food would include breadfruit, roast pig, poisson cru and poi the way Tahitians make it because it's not as bland as Hawaiian poi. The pavilion could have a short film about the Mutiny of the Bounty followed by a catamaran ride (similar to the ride in Norway) that tells of the different dress and cultures of each island. The ending would take you through a beautiful canyon with waterfalls along the back walls. (Wdw has enough of rides to drench us, here's a change)
I like the idea of revamping the American foodcourt. Here are some add-ons to Lisa's list: NY-Pizza NY-Cheesecake Brooklyn Egg Creams And I must address no one makes a mean pizza like a true New Yorker, but I heard Chicago comes close . :laugh No offense to the Bostonians, your state afterall gave us the greatest rock band of all time--Aerosmith ![]() |
