another walking question
Does anyone know the distance of walking in the parks. I know backtracking would add milage, but what if you started and walked around just going in one direction. Last time we had a pedometer (sp), but I found out if one jiggles as one walks, every step counts as 3 or 4.
I think it measured a hundred miles. lol And why is it that after walking all day, that last 100 yds. to your room is the longest??? |

Re: another walking question
lol.It sure is the longest walk of the day.
I plan on getting an accurate pedometer for my next trip. I think it will be very interesting to see how many miles you walk in a week at the parks

Re: another walking question
I dont know if the measurement would help but on the last day of the parks- my shoes were holey, I had monster calves and my fanny pack was all that kept me balanced because there was a sudden shift in my body shape- I had literally walked my A off.

Re: another walking question
Our last trip (dec 03) the walk from the bus to the entrance of the parks almost did my husband in. At AK, when we walked to the safari ride, he wanted to know if we were walking all the way back to Phila. Now he is 70 lbs. lighter and he walks 4 miles a day. I'll need roller skates to keep up with him soon.

Re: another walking question
After things like Wishes and Fantasmic, my mom tries to get us out onto the monorail early because she hates crowds. I swear that woman is a homing pigeon(sp?) because she is able to get us on the monorail in seconds flat. The only problem? We practically collapse by the time we get to the monorail! She walks so FAST! It was especially hard in 03 because I had fell off my bike a week prior to our vacation and I completely skinned my knee. So I had to wear this HUGE bandage over it, and it didn't allow me to bend my leg! When we would run a round I would just hobble. Boy my feet ached that year!

Re: another walking question
When we went in October we measured the miles every day with a pedometer. We averaged about 6 miles a day and were as high as 9+ miles in one day. It's a good thing to considering how many snacks we ate!!

Re: another walking question
The only advantage to all that walking is that when I eat all the great food there (and desserts), I just tell myself that I earned it! We are bringing a foot massager on this trip, so at the end of the day, it will help my poor, aching feet.

Re: another walking question
my husband's feet were SOOO blistered by the second day of our October trip. We'll definitely be bringing some mole skin and other treatments with us in May!
